For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 32 | I just bought a 1952 dump truck this week and everything I want to work on so far is attached with bolts with heads I've never seen before. Can someone please tell me what you call these? Thanks! The clutch head hasn't been used for quite some time, exept for some odd trailer applications. If you can't find them at the flaps or hardware store (Sears doesn't carry them in the stores BTW) Snap-On, Mac, Matco, and S&K still have them. You might check with a local repair shop and find out when the tool guy comes around, and if it's OK with them if you talk to him at their shop. Some places are touchy about that. I've been booted off of a few car lots trying to catch the tool guy 'cause i couldn't catch him at work.

I asked a couple hot rods guys and an older gent at Auto Zone and no one had a clue. That photo is a door latch bolt's. Smaller ones are used on the brake light switch. Thankfully a little WD40 took care of a sticky brake switch, and there was no need to remove it. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,554 | The clutch head drivers are readily avaible at many places. NAPA usually carries them, but they are a little pricey. Most of the mail order outfits,Chevy Duty,Brothers, etc.sell a complete set for under $20. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,378 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,378 | You can use a flat blade screw driver in a pinch. You have to make sure you're flat & straight with the screwdriver if you do because it's easy to round out the hole using a flat blade.

I also got clutch head bit drivers from Matco Tools that work great with a ratchet. I know a couple of Matco guys in the Chicago area. Let me know if you need the contact info. | | |
