I don't know if I've been hiding under a rock or what, but I just found a 7" fiber disk attachment for my angle grinder. I've seen 4 and 4 1/2" attachments at sears but they were the wrong arbor size for my dewalt.
I started stripping my '51 with my sand blaster, wire wheels and flapper disks on my angle grinder along with my die grinder. After feeling I was getting nowhere, my buddy tells me to get a 'hog' or bondo buster with a 7" disk. These go for $250 or better for a good one. While at home depot for more flappers, I found the 7" attachment that fits my dewalt for $16! And replacement disks are only $1.79 ea.
The kit comes with the rubber/plasic backing, two 50 grit disks and collar nut.
The PO stripped my truck, sprayed some rattle can primer on it and let it sit ouside for 10 years. You can imagine the rust. In under an hour I had the entire cab down to beautiful bare metal! If anyone is looking to strip something down quickly, get one of these. Cheap, Quick and easy.

I'm having a hard time visulising a $250+ 7" sanding/grinding disk, can you give us a picture of this disk???

$250 was for the entire sander ("hog" "bondo buster" whatever he called it) Not just the disk. I'll see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow, the guy I work with has a few of them. One of them basically looks like a regular DA sander except instead of the small offset weight between the motor and the pad it has a large round probably 4" dia. weight along with the 7" disk. He says they (entire unit) cost him $250, of course who knows if he was exaggerating or if that is the real price. I just wrote what I was told. Has anyone ever heard of one of these?

I have seen these in the "better" tool catalogs. I have used one when I worked at a Dodge Dealer but have never used one for rust busting.

Allright, here are pics of what I got from the Home Depot. Note that it's alittle close to the fingers, but I haven't had trouble so far (knock on wood). Sorry for the confusion earlier.

It's made by Norton and comes in a clear plastic bubble pack by the sandpaper and grinding disks. This is a cheap way to cover some serious ground. I started with the 50 grit that the kit came with and it took down rust, paint, welds, and whatever else got in its way. Notice how much more surface area there is compared to the 4 1/2" flapper.
I hope this helps someone else as much as it's helping me.

Spareparts, I just found one listed on Matco's website and theirs is called a Mud Buster sander and sure enough, these things do retail for $264. I couldn't find one listed on Snap-on's site.
