We rewired it, cleaned out the fuel system, rebuilt the carb and got it running only to discover the block is cracked. I am not familiar with these engines at all. He has a good running engine from a 1955 Chevy car. Is it a bolt in? Im not concerned with motor mounts being different, mainly the bellhousing bolt pattern, differences in the crank flange and things like that. | | | | Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 407 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2019 Posts: 407 | Should be a pretty straightforward bolt up swap using the original bell housing back. 55 was an open driveline. If it was a powerglide, the crank won’t have a pilot bushing originally installed. The 235 is slightly longer so a “short” water pump will be needed to clear the radiator.

The 55 was a stick so should be pretty simple. | | | | Joined: Feb 2019 Posts: 4,100 AD Addict & Tinkerer | AD Addict & Tinkerer Joined: Feb 2019 Posts: 4,100 | Instead of using a short water pump which places the fan too low on the radiator, a fellow ‘Bolter, Pre '68 Dave designed and offers a pump relocation kit that will put an original 216 water pump in the correct "sweet" spot for getting that engine in your truck and providing the best cooling. Check out his website for a ton of great info 235's and the relocation adaptor kit! You can send him a PM thru this site to purchase his adaptor kit.
