Has anyone bought those dollies that you put under each wheel so you can roll the truck around a shop? I bought some from HF and they were junk. They wouldn't roll at all and I think I bent the castors. I took them back. Where have you found decent ones that will support the weight of an AD?

Thanks

We've got three tech tips on Dollys.

Randy Baumann\'s good for '36 - '46

Paul "Wodniw5" Beresford cab dolly / hoist

And KCMongo\'s low buck dolly.

Maybe they'll help.

I bought cheap dollies at a cummings tool sale and they worked ok on my 1 1/2 ton,It's hard to start the wheels on the dollies going in the same direction so I took a 6 ft 4x4 and put it under the front bumper at an angle and then lifted on my end of the 4x4 against my shoulder.

My shop requested a set 2 years ago. Only one Gojack showed up. We never did assemble it. Looks top notch, though.

Hey Peggy, the type of dollies he is talking about are these small plate type that have four wheels each and go under each wheel / tire. They allow you to roll the whole vehicle around.

I bought the ones from HF a couple of years ago and they seem to work ok, my 57 is sitting on them without an engins so it is not that heavy. They may not work as well if the engine was installed. It is nice to move the car around when needed to work on.

Thanks for the input folks.
I bought a set out here that were manufactured by Merrick? company--in the mid west somewhere. They are supposed to hold 1500# each. I'll let you know how they work when I get them under the truck.

I bought a set of these dollies from Harbor Freight over 4 years ago (they are often on sale for under $100). I use them to move/store my 1/2 Suburban. It is a bit of a struggle for one person but a breeze when two people are available.

tc,
Those were the ones I had bought and then returned to HF. I think I bent one or two of the castors that were under the front end.

I used the Merrick ones last night and they work very well. They're also lower so you only have to jack the truck up 2" or so.

tlorber,

I would say that the Merrick wheel dollies are superior to those from Harbor Freight.
