To All, I need to change out the front axel U bolts on my "58 4400 (Thor). I haven't been able to locate a vendor for the larger diameter U bolts on a 1.5 Ton Truck. I can have them custom made, but was looking for a vendor source.

The spring shop where I am doesn't stock u-bolts, they just make them to order. I think you'll wind up having them made.

Just go down to a spring shop if you have one locally they usually have a huge assortment of different lengths and if you bring a old one they will bend them on site.they did mine while I waited and they had the proper double thick nuts and thick washers.
I bought a set from U Bolts Direct for the rear. I was just wondering about additional sources. LMC and Jim Carter carry up thru 1 ton series, nothing any larger.

It wouldn't surprise me to learn that those vendors buy from U Bolts Direct and then re-sell to us.
I've learned that you are better off having a spring shop make the ubolts for you with your old ones. I ordered a set of custom u-bolts from I think michigan spring for my 67 front axle swap and they sent me some that are 3in longer than what I ordered and by the time I realized it was too late to send them back so I will find out if they are short enough when I finish making the new top plates. I just did a add-a-leaf in the rear of my daily driver truck since the leafs were worn out and I wanted to get a little more height out of it and I had my local spring shop bend me up some new ubolts. It was only about 5 bucks more than ordering them after shipping costs and with these I knew that they were right plus I would rather support a local business and these guys have always been nice.

I ordered new U bolts last week from U Bolts Direct. They are the same vendor I used for the rear U bolts. I took the measurements directly from the originals so there shouldn't be an issue. They are due here the first on next week. The cost wasn't that bad, $40 00 plus shipping.

That sounds about right for bolts that size. I think when I did the rears on my nissan it was about 40-45 to order some online then another 15-20 for shipping so I ended up just pulling one off of one of my spare trucks and took it to my local spring shop to have them made and got longer centering pins since I was adding a leaf and it was still only a little bit more buying them local.
