Thank all of you who attended the Smoky Mountain Nationals and Southern Bolters "Jamboree ", this year was a huge success.

A big thanks to Tuts and Alvin for making this gathering happen and providing live entertainment keeping to event exciting.
(Alvin and Helen, the newly weds, had real big smiles all weekend all long?)

Thanks to Dave, the show Director for giving us the great location and making this show a must attend event. His crew treated us like Kings.
Dave will give us a count later of how many AD trucks entered the show, but it was well over 200!

Vicki and I will be taking a slow ride home and I will not be able to post more pictures until later this week.

Made it to Jordan's at I think at 1 am and found the battery on my HHR dead, I had left the auto shut off headlight switch on. Jordan jumped and I got home about 4 qm. I saw to many beautiful works of arts their I was overwellmed that others have som much love for hink of time. Met Alvins love bride and coursed I talked her ear of and to any others that would sit still enough. For sitting so much have a very painful charley horse. Did get a lot travel waves and horn honcks. I had a grear driver but will let in fill The rest of the story.

I got home at 3am after a 690 mile drive. Stopped 3 times for gas and twice at rest areas for a short walk and wash my face to keep me awake. No issues on this leg of the trip.
Thanks to Tuts and 2Ton for coordinating with Dave the show Director. This was an awesome show in a beautiful venue on the 'Peaceful side of the Mountain'.

Whew, rain 1/2 way so i took my time. Got iny driveway about 1:30......unloaded truck and just ate. Time for a nap.

Great time renewi g friendships and making some new ones......hope Archie, and Tut's Linda, are feeling better and everyone had safe travels.

Vicki and I are settled in at the Drury in Paducah. Going to head down to the happy hour now and then back to the room.
Had time to stop by Barkley Dam and Kentucky dam to check them out and take a few pictures.
Then the next couple days we will be taking a slow ride thru the Ozarks mountains doing some back road graveling on the way home.

Just rolled into the home front an hour ago. Archie was a little under the weather this morning, so I recruited some help and got 46 Texaco loaded up without incident. Dropped it off at Archie's house with the kind assistance of one of his neighbors, who just happened to have the entry code for the garage door.

Thanks to everyone who made an opinionated old geezer welcome all weekend! I made a bunch of new acquaintances- - - -more like "old friends I haven't met before!" Bolters are good people!

Walked through the front door about 8:30 PM (Sunday). Had a tremendous time at the Show and Jamboree, I don't believe I sat down at all. Next year I'll have a shirt made "Not Dave"...

Thanks again to all who participated, we have a great bunch of folks....Now a " Cool one and a shower"... Back to work in the morning..

Made it home safe to Michigan a little after 7pm. Dad made it home about 9pm.
Thank you Tuts and team for your coordination and great fellowship! We are thankful the Southern Bolters have allowed us to be adopted into their crew.

I waited to post to give Jordan a chance to post, he has not so here is my side. I drove 3 hours to his house in my HHR, I had already taken the truck down on Monday for him to look over for safery reasons. He was sitting on the porch whne I got there around 8 o'clock, times are appromate because I have slept alot since then. We loaded the back od the truck with my gear witch half was not used. He got behind the wheel and he would not leave that seats all the way there and back, which I was thankful for. It was the first time in my adult driving life on my many travels I got to look at the countryside. Other than the to frquent junior racer pacing us the trip out was uneventful. BTW the 54 will do about any speed you would want and a cruise control. On the way back was also uneventful until the ignition switch would shut the engine off with out notice. If it had been me alone it would be an issue but Jordan was masterful in handelling the issue. When we got back to his place around 11 pm I had at least 4 hrs left to get home in the HHR. IT would not start dead dead dead. I had hit the wrong switch and left the auto headlight switch on and drained the battery. I had jumpers and got it started and enough fuel so stops and a need to shut it off. Mostly uneventful except for navigating Indy road construction and detours in a pitch black night. That is my version and I am stick to it. And a big shout out to Jordon for his driving skills.

Good report Ron! About those little gremlins you experienced, sounds like they were not serious and when I travel in the ‘51 or the stock ‘64 CJ5 they’re expected.

Thanks, the one I forgot mention was, after the first ignition problem it continued off and on the rest of the way home. Of course because of my lack of mechanical skills I would have been calling a tow truck.

It was great to finally put faces with names. I enjoyed talking with you guy's and look forward to seeing you all again. It was a great show, can't wait till the next one!

Vicki and I made it home yesterday evening without any problems. Got to stop by Big Spring and stayed in Van Buren, Mo. right on the river.
Then a slow drive home with some back road graveling to see the Current river and let Vicki out to look for rocks.
Yesterday was also her birthday so she got to haul some rocks home without me complaining.

Happy belated Birthday to Vicki You should have told us, we would have made a "BIG" to do about it over the weekend.. I think a good road trip is just what everyone should do now and then. Glad you two made it home safe and sound.

Well I made it! Rejoined the world of the living...outside of the bathroom! Great comradery and loads of good discussions on many topics. My Linda was very comfortable being around so many "truck guys" due to the fact that we are sure to include so many of the gals. Thanks to Jerry, Hot Rod Lincoln, our '46 made it to Townsend enabling her to have an independent mode of transportation for her and Cooper. Oh by the way, Cooper sends tail wags and licks to everyone, especially if you shared just a small piece of a Vicki cookie!
We had our challenges with my grill which have continued to complicate life while getting Camping World to stand behind the warranty, that grill had only been used about 10 times and Weber wanted $75 for a part on a $179 grill, they are now replacing the entire grill. Wayne will remember that I had a similar part in my hand for less than $9.
Now for a special thank you to everyone with their concerns over my food poisoning episode and multiple offers to drive my truck and RV back to Crossville. Tut's felt he was blessed with the privilege to drive the truck up on Jerry's trailer and the rest of the journey was without incident. I camped out in the bathroom for another day and we made it back midday Monday with dry underwear! My '46 was tucked away in the garage and life was good! Again, thanks Tuts and Jerry.

Archie, I have found that anytime the letters 'RV' become involved with any item the price is outrageous.

It's good they are replacing the entire grill.
