yep, they are to put on the side of the road when you break down. I have an identical set in my 52. I am guessing mine are from the 60's or 70's.
You'll never need then though
Although if you had a ford, well... that would be a different story....

These were standard equipment in military (Army) vehicles in the late 50's early 60's. Used them a few times in Germany.

Not the same brand, but I found a couple Miro-Flex folding relectors at a junk store, no flags tho. I refinished them & keep em in my lil car. I have another set of 3 with the lockable holder bolted to the dump box by the drivers door.

Here\'s a set from them that may be like yours on Ebay

1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "
1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber"
2007 Chevy Avalanche
2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk,
2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!

I found a metal box,,it says "king bee" safety flares on it. Theyre 2 round flares that are filled with kerosene and lit in an emergency.
Pretty cool..........and for sale.

I had one of those in my 1960 as well. It was a little more pleasant to find than the meat cleaver I found in my other truck when I bought it! Makes ya think twice about getting out of the truck!

The Brand name flares, that would normally be available, as an accessory for these old pre 1955 'bolts, would be the Miro-Flare, by Miro-Flex. I have them pictured in a GMC Accessories Album I have.

Thankfully I have had good luck with my ford lately, could be the complete GM drivetrain, steering, and brakes though...
