Not the original motor casting number 3970010 could be a 69 truck 327 or a 69 to 80 350. The Vin # 4C95303615881D with an engine code of 164198027 no luck deciphering either yet. Maybe someone here could help. It has an SM420 trans and a two speed rear. 8.25 20s for tires and 10 hole hub piloted wheels. Not in the shape of the 56 this one is a little rusty. Needs some brake work but I don't think it will take much to get it on the road. The seal kit for the Make box was $56.00> the hardest part was R&R'ing it the thing weighed as much as any four cylinder motor. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,276 | I took the pressure washer to it to day. Looks better not exactly good but not bad for a 43 year old truck. I have rounded up a performer intake a good Q-jet carb and a few chrome goodies from around the shop for it. Found a broken brake line that I got a replacement for. Hope that solves the brake problem. Plugs wirers, cap and rotor. Transmission growls bad in first and it takes all you have to hold it in the low hole. Second third and fourth seem fine. The brakes are really strange they come and go. scary to say the least. Oh well so it's going to be a challenge I guess if it where easy it wouldn't be worth doing. | | |
