This beauty is my 1964 Chevrolet bus. I bought this gem from a friend of mine a while back. I came across it about 20 years ago tho. So, for six months I have been trying to get anything on it I can. A a nice gentlemen told me about stovebolt.com. One day with this group here and I have gotten more answers than the last six months from anyone and any dealership or even the factory it came from
My kids have come to name her Bessy, and we absolutely love her. I have tried to do as much research as I can. I have called Blue Bird (body maker) and tried to get what info I can on it. The only thing I could deduce is that the body came from the Georgia plant and the chassis is a good ole c60.
As far as Bessy as a whole, she spent most of the '90s running tubers back to the tube house for a river floating company in Wyoming. Late 99/00 she found her way to an auction house and my friend was the lucky recipient.
The conversion to a medieval / camping RV began. There are beautiful iron works shelves made by a third-generation welder lining the back. There is a bench seat that spans four or five windows on the passenger side and two seats on the driver side both fold into beds and it makes a wonderful camping experience.
I plan on fixing her as much as I can. and enjoying the nostalgia.

Glad the "nice gentlemen" told you about Stovebolt. You may find the gang in the Big Bolts area will be a huge help. And it goes without saying, the wrenchers in the SHOPS are always hard at work.

When you say "restoring it", do you mean as a school bus, with all the seats, yellow paint, etc., or fixing it up as a camper/RV?
Just curious--no wrong answer here. I think it's really cool!
You have definitely come to the right place for information on your '64 Bus. Welcome!
As Peggy mentioned, your bus does fall into the Big Bolts category so you can post most questions on specifics for your bus in there.
In case you haven't come across this resource, here is an original 1964 Chevrolet Truck Data document that you will find provides a lot of useful information about your bus. It takes a bit of reading to understand how to split out the stuff specific to your bus, but it's there for the finding.

First time to read more of the story on your Wonder Bus. Can you get us some picture of the interior? It sounds really cool.
