I had been invited recently to check out a true barn find. So I did today.
It's a 1931 Chevrolet 1-Ton stakebody truck. The truck has lived in a Southern Maryland tobacco barn its entire life. The thing about tobacco barns is that even though they have dirt floors, they stay very dry because of the great air flow through them.
Thought you all might like to see the pictures.

👠Just seen it. The caption only shows for a second or so, then disappears. But also way cool truck.
Hover your mouse in the photo and the caption will stay. Cool trucks. Pretty amazing that the Dodge is still a driver.

Kevin -- It is pretty cool that the Dodge still runs. It's been a regular attendee at many of our truck shows for the last 20 years. It was the service truck at a local dealership from new.
Don -- This was a learning opportunity. Owner merely made them available for my research.

BTW, the Chevy is a 1 1/2 ton truck. 1928 was the last year of that era for a one ton (the LO and LP models), but starting in '29, the larger trucks were rated for 1 1/2 tons. The '27 and '28 one ton trucks share some of the same parts as the '29 - '31.
I know some on here will cringe but I would love to make that clean and road-worthy. I mean by making it a safe driver speed-wise and good stopping power.

The "barn find" I just bought literally had to be rescued from a collapsed barn. It's a rolling frame that I'm going to be using to build a replica of Dad's early 1950's dirt track race car. Jerry

Are you going to buy the Chevy? That Dodge is amazing because it's still in working order.

Otto... Not no, but HECK no. I have enough on my plate as it is with the '27. Besides, it's not going to be for sale anytime soon.

I've got a chance to work on one of those "original- - - -unrestored- - - -running condition" vehicles. All I've got to do is make my way to Christchurch New Zealand. It's a1925 Dodge 1 1/2 ton truck that belongs to a friend there. His great grandfather bought it new to deliver the products of the family-owned winery and it's been there ever since. Now it's rented out for weddings, parties, movie sets and other such occasions. My friend has scavenged up enough parts to build a spare engine for it, and he has asked me to assemble it, if and when I can find the time to do that. It's a tempting offer, since he's also a game warden, and a deck hand on an 80 foot offshore sport fishing boat. Work a while, then hunt and fish a while! Jerry

Tim was born and raised in New Zealand. I’m sure he will help you out with your travels!
