Hey guys, I have a '53 chevy 6400 dump that I've been having a real hard time registering because I have no title.
Does anyone have a big truck title to sell?

Topcat welcome to the Bolt. I can't help with the title but I sure would like to see some pictures of that dump truck. I have a 56 that I am building, and plan to use every day when finished. Take a look I have a build thread here in the Big Bolts

I'd get ahold of the state office for your Department of Motor Vehicles (or whatever they call it in FL) directly. Odds are lost or missing title is too much digging & PITA for the average branch office so they make it harder for you than it is so you'll go away.
The main office should at the very least be able to get you going in the right direction as far as forms, inspections, & all that fun poo. But even so, I'd bet that it'll take a few weeks to process as well, so hope there's no rush.

Check in Hemmings, under Services I think, There are people who specialize in getting Titles, I don't know any more about it.

Do you know anyone in New York state or Alabama ? I belive these are both title issueing states.What you do is sell you truck to someone in that state for say $1 .They have the vehicle titled in one of those states.They then sell the vehicle back to you for a charge.Florida wont like it but they have to title it.If you don't have any luck drop me a PM and I'll see what I can do to get you a phone number.

I don't know the rules in Florida, but in Washington tampering with the serial number plate is a felony.

Changing yours to match another title could be a serious violation.

topcat, check with your state Motor Vehicle Department (or whatever they call it) and find out if they issue a "bonded title". (Might be another name for it in your state.)

It's not a complicated procedure here in Arkansas - we had to go through it when the title on a 1987 vehicle got totally screwed up and lost. I forget everything that's involved; but, as I said, it's not complicated or expensive. I'm going to have to go through the procedure later this year for my '51 6400.

Topcat, what I had to do was go back to the seller and get a notary signed bill of sale to get title to my 40 burb. The DMV checked this and gave me a florida title. from what I've seen I can't wait til I hit texas in 3 or 4 years. should be interesting.

Oh. topcat and what I did was had fla police check ID plate and give me a statement it was correct vehicle.

I have a clear title and VIN plate for a 1954 6400, would that work?
