For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,549 | I found the remains of a '46 Chevy 8PP-B 1101, 109"in. wheelbase COE today. In the woods, in a town about 20 miles from me. Truck has been sitting in the woods since 1956. The property belongs to a Factory in this town, & they say it's been there since before the Factory was built.I inquired about it, & they said I could have it, but it's too far gone to even think about removing it from its resting place( no rear axle, front axle, but no wheels, all glass busted tree limb damage to top, several shotgun blast to doors, hood damaged by falling tree limbs). I did remove the only grille stainlees left(2 pieces), & to my amazement, the step pad rubber was all there, so I got both of them. Too bad, I couldn't have found it 20 years ago, may have been able to salvage more. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 | Ok....ok, heart be still.
I was wonderin when you were going to go see it.
How about a gas tank? and the shift linkage (if it is the engine cover mount type). Step pads (metal)? running boards? Fenders?
What a bummer about the rest.
Shoulda snapped a picture Spanky, that would be cool to see the old guy.

I stumbled upon this one, by taking the wrong road, to a salvage yard I was looking for. Gas tank was long gone, no floor panels. Fenders, were banged up, not much left, to anything. I took a few snapshots of it. Have to get my film developed. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 | Hey Spanky, Sounds like that COE Tow Truck I sent you pictures of a few years ago...not worth saving, but fun to find just the same! I will post the pictures, when developed. Maybe my wife will get me that digital camera, I've been wanting for Christmas. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 1,867 | | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 | Ya, it is a shame. I wonder how many have gone to scrap already, like percentage-wise? 50%?
