Don't they know them things can't work much? Or, is that why they all insist on packing their undercarriages with disposable S-10 parts? And what's with the hundreds and hundreds of horsepower they all seem to need? Why don't they just get a Camaro and take the trunk lid off? Wouldn't that be the same, only cheaper? They're so dum. Does this belong in the Greasy spoon? I might not be as safe there.

Different strokes for different folks, hotshoe. We don't all want a truck for its capability to work. Diversity is what makes this webpage so interesting & fun don't you agree?

I agree with both of y'all.
I would only have a 1/2 ton if someone gave me one. I much prefer a 1 ton or larger.
I am a very practical kinda guy, if it has no function I don't need it. So a truck for me is a truck.
Others like their trucks for cars, that suits them.

If we didn't have a little bit of everything, this site wouldn't be as much fun. Look at our membership count, we have got to be one of the largest truck clubs around. That is because all, are welcome here. My thoughts are, that it's our diversity that makes this site so unique.

It doesn't matter the size as long as we save them from being recycled into modern day small trucks,

That's great if you have a ton to move, but what about 2.5 tons, then the 1T wins.

They all have their place

MOST guys dont have room to park a big truck... I sure dont, not without a bulldozer and a lot of stones to build a spot...

I get by with The New Truck to haul stuff in, The Ox to haul smaller stuff in and The Binder, is well.... under construction, but should be capable of hauling some weight.

Another quality post.

You definately are not safe in the Engine & Driveline forum. We require sane statements from people who can spell and love All kinds of Stovebolts. :p

At least he could spell Camaro, which is better than at least half the Camaro owners can do. That's not so dum(b).

Trucks should be sized to the job they are expected to do.

I have a couple half-tons that are perfect for light work. I have a 1-ton that is perfect for some jobs, such as pulling a trailer loaded with another light truck.

And I have two 2-ton trucks that in truth I've never really needed.

Why should I haul around a 2-ton truck and pay the fuel bill for that truck, when a 1/2-ton truck will do the job? And if I just want something that looks like a pickup and performs like a car, what's wrong with that?

What I don't understand is why anyone else really cares what I do with my trucks!

Hey John, sometimes I'll use the rear frame of my truck as a spare workbench.Seeing as how the truck is technically "working",do I have a shot of getting in the calander or should I pick up the pace and shoot for 2008? grin :p

Hotshoe - I really like the pre-49 Harley picture. Is it yours? I used to have a Harley 45
but it was a ServiCar and ran great.

You lumber photo is a little like the one with that huge catfish on the postcards, I got a chuckle out of that.

I knew you were yanking everyones chain so thought I'd play along...why not? wink

Why not indeed, Dave. I think there're several bike pix in that webshots thingy, and they're all stuff I've built except for the '91 Softy. I had a 45 as well for a time, and I liked it. The early one you see in there is a 1936 VLH 80" flathead, ex-Seattle PD, ex-Cossacks MC. I went 15 years with that bike, and rode it to Alaska and Mexico one year. The pic where it is packed down was taken on that trip.

I have a profile pic of that same lumber load, but the head-on is a better gag.
