hello one and all. it's been way too hot to work on my 49 dumper. i was going over my wish list and i can't seem to find anyone who sells reproduction decals for my 2-speed axle. i would love to replace the one on the dash and the one on the vacuum shift lever as well.
does anyone know where to look?? i checked most of the links from here that looked promising.

zeb...take a couple of minutes and familiarize yourself with the site. It has lots of interesting features and each member has a profile whereby they may be contacted via e-mail. If anyone has an ORIGINAL sticker, even a chewed-up one or [close-up, not fuzzy]photo thereof, or could actually send me the dashboard or piece to which the surviving thing was attached, I could probably make a VERY good reproduction using my graphic design skills and expertise as a typographer... in other words it would look right, not anachronistic, unless you got out a magnifying glass. This may be of help... I have a 1938 complete rolling 1 & 1/2T chassis engine to rear end. Rear is a 2 speed and chassis also has PTO driven hoist.

Mongo\'s Garage 2 Speed Decal
This is designed to be similar to the one's I've seen on other 47-54 trucks. I made it up for my 53 2 Ton. I don't consider it perfect which is why I never posted them for sale, and I was also working on a color version like was common on the later 50's and 60's trucks.
I can make up some if your interested, PM me and we'll talk.
It should be similar to the one on your Dash I've not seen a decal on the switch the ones I've seen have the High and Low cast in the switch.

mongo. that is the puppy alright. mine is color even though the truck is 49. i wonder if the decal i have was added later when the color version came out? There isn't a high or low cast in the switch face, just a raised "notch" at the bottom end sort of like a stop for the lever. do you and johnton think you can get together and make a few up? thanks

I'll get some made up and post them in the proper place when I have em, One thing I'd like to double check, Zebcotia the size I have for them is about 5.25 inches wide by 2.75 inches tall. is that acurate compared to the one on your 49?

Mongo, That decal looks pretty good to me. Put me down, for a few of them.

How about the "No-Spin" differential? I've got the original (alum.) plate which I'll be taking off when I paint the interior, if somebody (Mongo?) wants to borrow it to duplicate.

The filling station has stickers listed on thier web site.

Checked , The Filling Station online catalog. Couldn't find 2-speed. axle decals.

I am thinking about having some stickers printed professionally and if I do will sell them here in the swap section. Are they close enough? Fonts are always tough to get exact. Also check me on the color. I went by the post above and it was a little hard to discern.

Let me know if you guys would be interested, and how many. It will determine if I can get them done or not. I figure about $10 per sticker as I may not sell many. I think printing will be about 150 or so, but the quality is perfect, and they would be the crack n peel type sticker.

Hey Virginiafiretruck, I'll be in Virginia Beach this weekend. any Old Car, or Truck happenings, you know of.

Just wanted to add that our 47 has a thin metal plate with high/low in white letters and a screw though the center on the shift knob. Ours has most of the lettering worn off. Anyone else have this on their truck?

Let's let this run for about a week. I think we're borderline violatin' the rules about posting stuff for sale here, but lets just consider this a pre-sale market test and it is to help out our fellow bolters in need, so hopefully it will be ok.

Is the yellow in the shift scale close to correct? I can change any of this that is not quite right but you guys have to let me know imperfections as I don't have a decal of my own.

I will keep this as an order request, but officially, in accordance with the rules, this will be posted in the swap meet in the future if we get enough interest.

Excellent, looks like we're gonna have an order. I would still like feedback regarding color before we hit the "go" button. Anybody have a sticker that can critique the color, especially the gold color with the green on the dial?

I will post this in the swapmeet section as soon as I have them. Note that it will take me probably a couple of weeks or a little better. They have to be ordered and arrive, then I have to have special cutting done for this odd size. May also wait for a quick sample to arrive to ensure sticker quality as well.

I'll also post here so everyone knows when they are over at the swap.

Looks like KCMongo got edged out and he's the guy who first made them. Hmmm...

He and I are talking and I'm going to get him some also. His are the BW version. I think this is going to be beneficial to all as he won't have to buy a full printing run of um.

Tomcoe, i'd venture to say that the yellowish color on the decal pictured, was originally off white. I'd bet that it yellowed over the years. That green, & red, has probably faded some also. I still had the remnants, of the decals, on two, of my parts trucks (both 48's) & when a very bright light, is shined on them, that yellowish color, on my decals, looks a dirty white. I also talked to a former GM employee, that has worked with these old Stovebolts, for many years, & he thinks, that it's supposed to be a off-white color also.

How about this? That is probably a good thought as it has probably yellowed quite a bit. It won't effect the red as the magenta in it is a very powerful color, but I blued up the green just a bit as it has probably yellowed a bit also.

Thanks Spanky, I also took the black lines dividing that color out (cream and green) as I don't see em on the orig now that I look closer. I think we are about there.

Mongo, in addition to my last reply to you, I think your idea of using the extra for application instructions is an awesome idea. Get me the info at your convenience. I can make room as we can do as large a sticker as need be to accomodate room for instruction. Let's condense as much as possible, but we'll keep what is necessary. I can also make the type small.

Just wanted to add my .02 worth. Those stickers look great!!!! you can of course, put me down for some. in fact i would like two sets. (don't tell my wife but i spotted another 1.5 ton in the weeds yesterday) I am looking forward to the actual stickers since I sort of started this whole mess.
I may be new to stovebolters but i think this is what this site is all about. Someone has a need and the whole crew pulls together to make it happen. AMAZING AND IMPRESSIVE!! thanks again for all of you pitching in to help out

Sure thing zebcotia. I'm just a graphic designer who needs a break form all the usual design projects once in awhile! This just sounded like a fun project, and since I'm in the business of printing...why not. If I can break even more or less for my design time and printing then all the better.

Spanky, are those stickers applicable to the 55.1 COE's too? If so, how much are they going for?

Scott, The answer to your question, would be yes, & no. The '54 Chevy COE Tandem Axle truck, I had ,used this same sticker, except the text, was black, & the background was clear (showed up dash color).

Sorry I missed you. We spent a week in Ocracoke, NC. We loved it! Very peaceful...no cellphones!

Good enough for me. Bubba is going to be far from original under the hood anyway so a decal from it's period would probably fool 95% of the people that will ever see it anyway. No sense in me getting anal about this truck.
