Alvin got home a little while ago, He's sore and tired. His Daughter is staying with him tonight, his other Daughter will be with him tomorrow. I told him to get some rest and I would check in on him tomorrow.

He wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

Glad Alvin is home! That’s a really good sign!

I spoke with Alvin this morning, he was a little hoarse but was in good spirits. The Dr. Sent him home with pain meds and a back brace, told him he could move around but to take it easy. He has a follow up on the 13th, he is still planning on riding with me to KC on the 15th. We'll see what the Dr. says about that.

His Daughters are nursing him along and he has Women from his Church bringing him meals. I told him not to get used to being pampered. I'll check in on him later.

My input on this is: ENJOY BEING PAMPERED. YOU DESIRE IT!! thumbs_up God bless the folks who get to help you out like this. It is real example of Alvin reaping what he sowed! He has taken care of many. grin

So glad to hear the good news that the surgery went well. Thanks for keeping us all informed Craig.

Just checked in on the patient, The Doc's told him the 2nd and 3rd days would be the worst of it, he thinks he's there now. He slept most of the night and was able to get some more sleep this morning. he said it's been all down hill from there, he is trying to walk some as the Doc's told him to do but he's still in a good deal of pain. His nursemaids are looking after him so I think he'll come around in a few days. I'll check back in with him later.

Let him know we are still praying for him.

I remember the doc telling me to walk after a surgery in 1981. That was more painful than the surgery.

Wonder if he's heard from Dakota? I was thinking that last night. Any idea?

Thanks for keeping us posted.

Alvin has a couple of bad days, a lot of pain and some complications from his medication. He actually was back at the hospital last night, he's home this evening doing better. His daughter is staying with him for a few more days.

This has been the worst pain of my life. Not the back surgery but the meds shutting me fown. Last Thursday and Friday i wanted to leave this world. After two urgent care places and over 12 hours in ER they figured the drugs, oxycodone, and 3 more, shut down my ability to use potty from Tuesday to Friday. Won't bore you with details of what i went thru.

My daughters and son in law have stepped up to the plate taking days off amd being her 24/7. Today i walkedto mail box and back with help. Getting stronger esch day but slow go. See surgeon next Tuesday. Back sore but nothing compared to other.
Thanks for all your prayers. I thought i may not make it about 3AM Saturday morning.

I'll check in later with update... or tut😊

Well folks Alvin's Dr. has advised him against making the trip to KC. He is healing good but she is really not ready to let him travel for a prolonged distance at this time. Alvin is on the fence but after talking with him I think he understands the circumstances being what the are he'll just forgo the ride to KC this year. I was real insistent that he follow his Dr's guidance. So I'll be making the trip west solo.

I was thinking about Alvin last night and wondered how he was getting along. I know he'll miss the event but a good call to put his health first. Also, staying home may keep him out of hot water with his daughters.

Thanks for the update!

Hope you heal quickly.

Well folks the drama continues. Alvin contacted me earlier this week, the pain he has been having is caused by Gallstones. He had an appointment for the 30th of the month, the soonest the Dr told him he would be able to see him.

He has been having a bad time of with his Gallbladder, seems he's in almost constant pain. He finally was able to make his Dr see the urgency of the situation, as such he has an appointment at 10:30 tomorrow (Friday) . I will pass on any news once I here something. Keep the prayers coming.

I texted Alvin. He said he is worn out, just tried but feeling some better. His Dr. diagnosed him with "Gastoparesis". He is on a clear liquid diet this week, next week he can have some soft foods. It may be a while before he can have a normal diet. He said he didn't really feel like talking and would call me later.... Anyone who knows Alvin knows he loves to talk so he must not be feeling good. I'm going to try and call him tomorrow (Monday).l, we'll see how he feels then.

To all, Our good friend Alvin is not doing well. As of this morning he has lost a total of 37 lbs. He is waiting for his Dr. to schedule an ultrasound to investigate the gallbladder issue. the Dr. has moved up the ultrasound from Monday the 10th to this Thursday. He is trying to get the follow up scheduled for Friday so he won't have to wait thru the weekend.
He is still having some stomach problems and is only able to eat soft foods or clear liquids. His stomach is not contracting as it should while digesting and not moving foods through his system as needed. This is associated with the "Gastroparesis" and his diabetes. On top of all of this he is having some kidney issues and is waiting to see a Dr. for that.
He doesn't really feel like talking much, if you know our Alvin that's just not right. Please keep him in your prayers and maybe say an extra one as well.

Well that’s a kick in the teeth. Praying for a complete recovery.
