I think the white walls are too wide! I've seen some that are even wider which appear to dominate the entire side of the tire and the appearance of the truck.
In 1962 I bought 4 new white walls for my '51 Chevy from a Chevron station where I worked (forgot the Chevron tire brand name). Here's what I think the width of a white wall should be. Picture taken in about 1965 in Laramie.

The good news is that tires are probably the easiest thing to change on a vehicle….!
I was more concerned about the drivetrain whining he had while driving it- is it the transmission or rear end? I never got to drive my truck before I swapped out the rear end and transmission for something more modern….did these trucks whine that badly right out of the dealership?

The whine sounds just like my ‘52 3100 with a ‘59 235, original tranny and torque tube 4:11 rear end. Once you get to third gear the whine goes away.

Did you notice the new VIN tag that wasn't stamped correctly?
Whitewalls! Check these out. Cat's meow.
There was no factory whitewall option for a 50 AD truck. Dealerships would install whitewalls if you pay for them. Keeping them white was constant maintenance. Late 50's began the hot rod era where anything goes including chrome flipper hubcaps.

Remember Atlas Bucron tires? Early 60's version of street slicks.

I'm old enough to remember those. Okay when new but would show a gap as they aged. Usually found them on a poor man's Cadillac. Flapping in the wind on the highway.

First off, nobody that purchased a new AD truck ordered whitewall tires. These trucks were used for actual work. I would love to see a period photograph of a new AD truck in a dealership equipped with white wall tires. It ain't gonna happen.
The whitewalls in your photo look like 2 3/4" WW.
White walls were already being narrowed by carmakers in the mid 1950s. My 1956 Cadillac came equipped with blackwalls or 2 3/4" whitewalls if ordered. You could still get the wide whites up to about 4 1/2" but they were falling out of vogue.
White walls on trucks were just a waste of money for farmers and contractors and other people who used a truck as a truck.

I wonder if Diamondback could reproduce those tires!
