I also built an engine hoist, tow bar, several garages and a shed. (Over the course of a few years anyway).
You did a very professional job on them all. You obviously have a good eye for detail.
I am just curious, what type of rock is your truck parked on? Is that a dark crushed granite, or something else? Also, why did you build two sheds instead of one larger one?

We are in the process of Xeriscaping (spelling??) our whole yard and my wife and I like the contrast of the blue granite next to the lava rock and larger diameter river rock border. I chose to build 2 sheds because the building codes out here in the Colorado Springs area says that the maximum size of a shed without a permit is 10'x12'. My sheds are 8'x12'...the 8' dimension merely to coincide with 8' sheet goods. I built the doors using mortise and tenon contruction from pine stock I had milled several years earlier from large logs. The panels are AC grade plywood; I machined "V" grooves in the face for an "old" decorative look. I've been swinging a hammer since 3rd grade as Dad was a general contractor. There isn't much in terms of residential construction that I haven't done. I'm thankful that Dad is such a well rounded craftsman skilled in a variety of disciplines...and a good teacher. One of these days I'll be building a 28' x 40' shop to house all my woodworking tools and machines as well as my mechanic tools and yes, of course, my dump truck. My old rig is a 55/1st 4400 with a 12' flatbed. Soon after I purchased it I pulled the 235, bought a 350 and did a "test fit". It looked like there was no way the steering box could remain where it was, special headers or not! I tried to visualize what type of box I could put in and where it could go...then I came to my senses and scrapped the V-8 idea and went back to the old 6 banger.
I looked through your "disassembly" photos last night and lo and behold, the steering box on your old yellow dump truck is the one I visualized as a swap on my old truck...WOW. It sits ahead of the axle and the drag link goes BACK to the steering arm. This moves it out of the engine area. I will stick with my stock engine, but for others contemplating this swap, your vintage steering setup might be a option.
