I hope everyone out in ODSS land is doing well and all are just busy with their lives. Perhaps one day all will be normal (whatever that is) and we can get back to some Stovebolt Live Action! Then again, it is the end of the truckin season maybe that is why not much going on. I still need to plan a clutch removal and replacement weekend on the one ton but currently working on house projects so that is on hold.
Take care,

It’s firewood cutting season and working on the 57 one ton. Put the mower away and got the splitter out. Leaves are in full color and we are doing some site seeing this week also.

Working on my 79 AMX, still. Started 18 months ago and it’s going to be painted this month. Should be able to get it back together during the colder months and ready for the spring. Then back to the 41. That’s the plan anyway.

Don, I had a great oak firewood source a couple of years ago but that went dry. I have resorted to buying some already split wood the past coupled of winters to add to scavenging some. I wont be buying much anymore. Prices start at $240 a cord for "mixed" hardwoods and go as high as 350.00 per! For that much, ya might as well pay the power company. Alvin, I agree but like I said, been too quiet. I fiddled with the '46 for a bit last night but nothing too to crazy. The weather is supposed to be a little warmer this weekend so hopefully I can go for a ride.
Good for you Victor, sounds like you are making progress. A whole lot more than me!

Billy, Looks like I need to start selling firewood in your area! Of course the transportation fees would put me at zero again. I’ve got more oak firewood than I could ever cut. Bring a truck next year and we’ll get you ready for winter for the cost of chainsaw gas and oil.
Wow, that is a hefty price. I think around here it’s about $125 a cord of split hardwood. About $70 for a good pickup load and $50 if you haul it. We had some land logged off of white oak a few years ago and we let several friends cut all the tops they wanted. Hardly put a dent in the tops. I have a good cord of seasoned oak ready to mix in with the green oak I’m cutting now for this winter. Going to start splitting a trailer load today.
I’ll give you the same deal as George, only I’ll have a cooler nearby for breaks. Don

The daylight change does put a dent in my wanting to do anything but lay on the couch when I get home from work. But I did get my Vermont tags in the mail today, so at least I can be legal for a bit!

In my best Marine DI voice: There’s only two things from Vermont.
I thought that was California. At least that's what Army DI's said.

I’ve always been a sensitive guy and the sensitivity is increasing daily. As for the Quote “there’s only two things from...” it can be used for every state, except Virginia.

ODSS Colleagues, Happy belated Veteran's Day to those whom served! I've been side tracked for a long time making trips to universities, as my daughter is to decide where to attend undergrad school in 2022. Now that cold weather about to set in, its awfully discouraging to wrench in unheated garage. I hope all are doing well! V/r, Nick
Thanks buddy! Always like to get out in the back country! I tried to get the pic within the 5mg thingy but as you all know, your dealing with me ! Heading down to Napco’s neck of the woods for a couple days. Massanutten resort, unfortunately with the wife’s sister! No truck though!

Well it is grand ol hunting season and firewood season. I had 4 trees taken down 2 weeks ago because they were too close to the house and way too big. I did Electrical work on my son in-laws house and he is a tree removal expert so I traded labor with him and he put the trees on the ground without incident or accident. I have about 3-4 cords of wood split and still not finished with those trees. Maple and oak will do fine for my wood furnace. Billy, I have plenty of wood here on the farm if you want to bring a saw and a truck. You are welcome to come work on your own instead of buying it. Those prices are high up there. It is still about $125 -150 a cord around here.
I'm after a few deer, turkey, or a bear this time of year but I can't sit still out there in the cold too long. I can see a heated hunting stand in my future !!
Jim .... its like my fishing ... which isn't so much about catching dinner as it is about spending soul-renewing time on the water. I don't so much "fish" ... I go for long, slow boat rides. If I really want fish for dinner, I go to my best fishing hole -- Food Lion. BTW, the first pic was taken by Mike Roache. We didn't catch anything that day but we had a helluva great day. And not one single beer! In the second picture, Colton Point (lower Potomac River) is off my left shoulder and St. Clements Island, where Maryland was founded in 1634, is off my right shoulder. First picture ... we were trolling off St Clement's Island. My back is to the East (downriver) and it is wide like that. We were about 19 miles upriver from the mouth of the Potomac. Its a big, wide river.
Salt water (even if brackish) is better than beer.
Speaking of ... Mike, you want to hit it one more time before the season ends and I have to winterize the boat? I hear striper are active in this part of the river currently...

John, I hear you about the soul-renewing. Here's a friend and me (just off the picture - I'm no selfie artist ) waiting for the shrimp to jump into the pots. I did get both pairs of feet in the second photo though.

John, we can come up with a shot at it, Rods are sitting on the wall and ready. Life is a bit sideways right this moment familywise. We shall see what we can do.
ODSS Colleagues, The pic is an expert boot polisher doing my ropers as I relax & think about how often the last 35 yrs I've gone through this TX airport & had boots cleaned. They get pretty dusty as I work on test ranges in the southwest. Everyone enjoy their Thanksgiving with family, friends, and loved ones. V/r, Nick
Kevin ... Wow. I can see why people go there and never come back. I hope your shrimp are better trained than our stripped bass ... I hear ya, Mike ...
Welcome home, Nick.
