I bought this vintage truck, a 1950 Chevy 3100 Deluxe Cab, in 1993 for $1,200. It had a 283 and a granny 4 speed in it. It ran and drove really good.

Over the next several years, I installed a 350 trans, Nova rear end, HEI distributor, restored the original gauges, added an OG radio and heater. I also have a Fulton visor that is not shown in the pics.

I repainted the truck about three years ago (2006) in my garage and I'd say it looks pretty good.

My whole idea with this truck is to maintain as original a look as possible, even though it has updated drive train. UPDATE (6-28-2021) truck now has a 350 engine and 700r4 trans, disc brakes, and power steering. Currently I'm correcting details like painting the mirror arm and head black, painting the tailgate lettering, and trying to find an original seat to replace the incorrect one. Other future plans include painting the wheels black as well as the bed wood and strips. This truck and my 57 Chevy sedan are my daily drivers, heck the newest thing I own is a 64 Nova!

Hi John, I just checked out your '50 pics. Nice looking truck you've got!

I like the idea of the original look, but with the ability to cope with todays traffic conditions.....the best of both worlds!
You can keep up with the traffic flow, but look way better getting there! cool

Thanks Jock, I've had five other 47-53's in the past. A 53 in particular that I could really kick myself in the backside for selling. I wont be making the same mistake with this one. Now I need to finish up my 52,57, my 57 210 sedan, and 57 bel air. Whew! I've gotta lot of work to do!

Yeah John...Looks like a 'keeper!'
Sounds like you've been bitten by the Bowtie bug pretty bad!
Good luck with all your projects!

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
