I have the block stripped of pretty much everything including the head. I also have the hood and radiator removed. My next step is to rent an engine lift and pull it out. How do I rig the lift to the block? Should I put the head back on? As usual, all help and guidance is appreciated! And I love pictures 😠| | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 | Don't put the head back on. You can either use a couple of eye bolts or just some spacer washers and a chain with 2 bolts, make sure you have a nice large loop in the chain or you stress things too much. If you were close I'd help.

You will need to unbolt the transmission from the bell housing and either remove if or at least slide it back a little and support it. 235's have hidden bellhousing to block bolts behind the flywheel so the simplest way to remove the engine is to do it with the bellhousing, flywheel, and clutch still attached, by removing the bellhousing motor mounts. A 3 speed transmission can stay attached to the engine and the whole assembly can be removed together. Removing an engine with the 4 speed attached is much more difficult due to its size and weight, so it's better to unbolt it before pulling the engine. Jerry

Unless you plan on removing the whole front clip and remove straight out the front. Don't try to remove the flywheel housing, the clutch and flywheel need to come off first to get to the inside bolts.
