Hi. I'm a fresh bolter from New Zealand. I've inherited a 1937 RHD 1.5ton truck from my dad when he passed a few months ago. He was about to start restoring it. So now it's up to me.

It was purchased brand new by my Grandfather in 1937 and has been in the family ever since. Sadly however it spent about 50 of the last 80 years outside in a junk yard on our farm in Namibia (Southern Africa). The good thing is that Namibia is very dry so there is no structural rust, only surface rust

This truck was sold with only the front part of the cab so the remaining coachwork was built by hand.

I do actually have all of the fenders and stepping boards too.

The plan at this stage is the ship the truck from Namibia to New Zealand in June next year. From there the restoration can begin. It will not be 100% original as I will be replacing the motor with a somewhat later version. I have arranged a '54 235 to go under the hood which is currently attached to a powerglide transmission.

I have a feeling I will be asking for a lot of advice during my journey.

Welcome Bitze, you have a long wait ahead of you before you see the truck. Cool to have it in the family so long. Be sure to stick around and be sure to ask if you need anything.

Looks like quite a project you have there! Being a family heirloom makes it all the more special.
Welcome to the Bolt!

Thanks. I do have a bit of wait to get the truck over to me, so I will try and get a few things ready for it's arrival.
The one thing I really am going to need is a replacement cab. I think I will have very little chance of getting a wooden cab on the road here.
I think my wife is going to miss me a bit once I start.
