Found this site over 10 years ago and became interested in the big trucks. A few months later I found a 1955 advance design 6400 2 ton. My son and I hooked up the trailer and drove 4 hours one way and picked it up. Brought it home and after about 30 minutes of tinkering we had it running. It originally belonged to a volunteer fire department and only has around 6000 miles on it. However it has been sitting for a long time and needs a lot of work. I have had the truck for around 10 years and am just now getting around to working on it. There sure is a lot of helpful information on this site.

Welcome to the “Bolt”! Nice find! I’m curious, in the first picture the truck is red and in the second its green. Is the green the way you found it and some time in the last ten years, you primed it?

The picture on the trailer is when I picked it up. It was a sort of light green. The red color is rust from sitting out in the weather. The fire wall is red and in the door jamb under the door gasket is a dark green. Not sure what the original color was but think maybe the dark green.
Hello Paul, and welcome. Looks to be in pretty good shape. I was trying to match up the lettering to a town or county. No such luck. Where did you find it?

It was listed on Craiglist. Sat on a guys farm outside Hillsboro Texas for 20 years. He got it from the Ponder Tx volunteer fire Department. Some of the lettering has worn off. Ponder is just outside of Dallas.
