What does the jack look like that would be used on my 53 Chevrolet 3600. And where would you have kept it on the truck? Not sure but, under the seat is my guess.
Elmo, I asked the same question some time ago and received this photo. I Was told the same jack was used from the early 40's through the 50's. Someone will correct this if wrong. Here is a copy of the 1953 Truck Manual. It says there is a 50X19X6 tool box under the seat. This tool box is for the larger truck and is on page 72 Harold
My 1953 1/2 ton 3 window came with a scissors jack that works and crank to turn the engine over thru the lower grille. Are those jacks available around?

That original jack design is called a bottle jack. Very popular amongst other car mfg's as well.

What page (pages) of the are you referring to? What model of truck are you referring to?
I have not looked through that entire Specifications Manual, but I see that a “tool box” of different dimensions being referred to for many models - I might be wrong, but I think that might be referring to the underseat/underfloor storage compartment?
A jack, wheel wrench, and a jack handle are the list of tools for most models?
An additional Tool Kit (bag and tools) is referred-to in the ACCESSORIES section on page 159? This had to be ordered in addition-to (separate-from) the truck/options delivered from the factory.
brad allen re. jack I have aniron one with exposed gears and an iron flip top that gives you about 2 inches more hight. It is associated with the big bolts I think... works OK.
