For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 | I am hoping someone has dealt with this before...
Since I will soon be in the process of replacing both side windows in my truck because they are cracked and have never been a big fan of "crank" windows anyway, I am considering installing power windows...
How hard is this to do in a '37 Chevy truck and what would the best fit be for power window motors and controls in doors with the clearances the '37 has?
Any suggestions on any newer cars or trucks with power window motors (that may be found at a wrecking yard) that would be the right size or semi easy to retrofit like this?
Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions...

Specialty Power Window has a universal kit and Spal Power Windows makes a really nice universal kit. So am I to take it that there is nothing available in newer cars or trucks that can be used for the purpose and that I am looking to buy a custom specialty part instead of just pulling something out of an existing vehicle already on the market?
Thanks again...

Look at the Spal site, it might give you an idea what to look for. If you can, get the motors and stuff from rear doors on four door cars, they are always in better shape from less use. Measure the distance you need to lift and lower and look for same size doner car. Ford used cable drive alot, and our Honda had a small set up in it. The big gear drives from the '70s would be to big, I don't think they would fit in the door.
