It's about an inch down from the top. Tried everything. Thinking I should pull tube out of block. How is it held in? What am I going to break by removing it? Assume it's just pressed in but don't want to break off in the block.

Mine came out with some vice grip twisting... oily spot, good chance it's not rusty.
If you're worried maybe tap a screw into it and use something to slide hammer.
FYI: it's easily replaceable with 3/8 steel tube if you can figure out the correct length.

Use the socket like a slide hammer.
