Very little wear. Block decodes as a 78-79 casting. The heads decode as 80-86 Lt. Truck. PO says it came out of an 84 C-10. My question is whether this is the original engine or a rebuild. Would a 78-79 block be used in an 84 production? Maybe it was an '80 truck? The C-10s from those years are all almost the same.

Have you checked the bore or the crank for signs its been worked on?
