Here's the parameters...I've installed an '81 Camaro 10 bolt. The interweb states that it's and inch wider than the original closed drive shaft...so doing public school math it's a half inch wider on each side. I don't want to cut the bed sides and tub the box. FYI, I have moved the shocks inboard which really doesn't come into play for what I'm wanting to do. I think at this time I want to use the same width on the front, just smaller diameter wheel, (20's rear, 18's front).

The back space and wheel width that will work is calculated from the Wheel Mounting Surface (WMS) on the diff and on the wheel, using public school math and the tools MNSmith specified.

Without tubbing, 10-inch wide tire on an 8-inch wide wheel gave me an inch sidewall clearance on the inside and out. I used the standard offset that came on the wheel - don't remember what it was - 3-1/2 or 4 inches? MNSmith is right: there's no substitute for crawling under there with a tape measure and straight edge. This web site is invaluable for comparing various tire sizes: https://tiresize.com/
