Rebuilding a less common engine can get very costly. I imagine if you had stronger rods, pistons, rockers, etc... plus extensive head work like porting, polishing, putting the heads on a flow bench, for a blower ready motor it would get really expensive!
You can save some money by having the machine shop do just the machine work using parts you supply (pistons, rod bolts n' nuts, cam bearings, soft plugs, valves/guides/ seats)

One thing I did learn is to check both banks of cylinders for problems not just one.
The story: Engine sat for a few years with 2000 mi on rebuild with all performace parts. Pull cylinder head...yep everything looks good I can even see the honing marks, the other side must be the same, I'll take it. Few months later...ok time to get this bad boy ready pull other head..hmm chunks missing from that piston, take it to the machine shop. Teardown...hey the ring lands on 4 of your pistons are partially missing and 3 are burnt pretty bad. Shell out $$ for new parts and machine work.
Oh well, live and learn.

My advice to you is to incorporate some type of alky injection. Lots of us turbo regal guys use either a homemade alky kit or a progressive alky kit. Lots of us running 21 plus psi of boost on pump fuel. Go to turbobuick.com and we have an alky injection forum on our board.
