My name is Doc, and I'm an avid stovebolt fan. Although I have other old autos and antique farm engine's my 54 has a special place in my heart. Have restored with as many NOS parts that I could find over the years I'm 90% done. I have had this truck for 44 years and this is the second restoration. I have learned as much that is out there about Rochester model "B's"and still learning about the odd aspects of this simple carburetor. There are many. when I rebuild one I put them on a test engine to tweek them out.

We are here to help. Make your presence known in the Garage Forums and feel right at home. You should watch for other Southern Stovebolters from your state. They are quite a few here.

Hello Doc and welcome to the BOLT. You already have a lot to offer to this site, that much history with your truck. Be sure to post some pictures once your able. It's good to have another Southern Bolter on the site.

Hi Doc. A warm welcome from Alabama. I, like Tim, am partial to the 1954 models. I purchased my truck in July of 1976 after a crude restoration so I am also starting the second restoration. However, I just started my restoration last year after many years of my neglect so I only wish I were 90% finished! I also share a passion for trying to keep the truck as original as possible and I share a passion for the old Rochester B and BC carburetors. They get a lot of bad press around here, but they are what was original to the truck. Sounds like you have a lot experience with them and in spite of the “bad press”, there is an abundance of help here getting them to function correctly.

With only 10% left to go, you should be finished in no time with the wealth of knowledge and assistance available on the BOLT.

My 1954 3104 with Hydra-Matic came with the original Rochester BC carburetor (when I drove it home in 2005). It worked fine.

I broke-in the rebuilt 235 with a rebuilt H-M Rochester BC.
These model B Rochesters have a "heat stove" automatic choke, making the model code BC.

I drove my 1954 3100 with Hydra-Matic home in 1976 with the original Rochester BC carburetor. It still has the original "heat stove" and original pipe. I swapped out the original carb for a remanufactured carb sometime in the mid 1980’s and it ran like a sewing machine until the late 1990’s. The replacement carb is a 7009254 and the original carb was a 7005921. Wish I could have kept the original, but at the time, we needed the core money.

Wayne67vert, I agree. The amazing thing is the first complete restoration was in 1978. If not for the extra parts in the barn I would not be able to restore it today. Long gone is the day that these old trucks were in yard's and farms, much less salvage yards.Doc.

I have pictures on my phone, I will have to get my dear wife to show me how to post pictures. Also this is a wonderful site, it's like going back in time when my 54 was only about 24 years old. I did not realize how popular these old trucks would become. I thank all of you for opening a new chapter for me and Old Yeller, I always knew what I liked, this help's me to realize that I'm not the only one that see's the practically of these old guy truck's.

Welcome, but be careful about mentioning Rochester bs, when I do they go ballistic or it just could be me. I saw your occupation and there a lot of old bones around here.
