Hey, guys I’m considering a new project a 55’ 4100. My idea is to put 1/2 ton springs (altitude change). Leave the original 235,maybe a trans w/ a overdrive. My question is, right now the truck has nothing as far as a bed. Will a longbed fit or will I have to shorten the chassis.Im probably going to have to do a “C”notch. Sooo I need your knowledge. Thanx

What is the complete model number?

It’s not a 1 ton if it’s a 4100. Might want to consider moving this thread to Big Bolts.

Completely different animal. You have a long, long road ahead of you to convert it to a pick-up. Find someone with a half ton and park them side by side. Get a tape measure and check the wheel stance, (front axle width) the spring length and width and the wheel opening of the front fender. Take a look at the rear cab mounts as well. Good candidate for the Cummins swap, but you'll need a rear axle. Motorhomes are good donors for axles. You can even find independent front suspensions that you can unbolt the entire assembly from the motorhome.
