Any thoughts on what S10 fraim is best under an old chevy body. with a big inline? with a smallblock 8?

I had a couple of 1980s s-10 blazers, and they had a pretty darn beefy frame. I also know a couple of people who through 350s in em and the frame didnt bend or tweak in the least.

Most use the 80's long cab s-10. the only problem is that the wheelbase is alittle to long and will need to shortened. Also the rearend is to narrow and will need to be swapped for one form a s-blazer or one of your choice. For body mounts you can go to www.ad-engineering.com . I personlly just install a sub frame from a 60's camaro or nova. Either way you will have your work cut out for you.

Just bought an S-10 to go under a 53 pickup. The regular cab long box are the same wheelbase as the 53.

I am in the process of doing that swap right now. I dont think it is that bad just takes up a lot of space in the garage , parts every where. I used an 82 S10 long bed pickup. I thought I was going to have to shorten the frame a little but it turns out it fits real nice. Good luck..Dave B

those stock s-10 rearends are pretty beefy to,or they suprised me anyway,I had a 10 with a 355ci and built turbo 350 in it,ran out of money for a rear so I just lincoln locked the stock 342 rear and put 8" MT's on it and run the crap out of it,the motor went before the rear end did,I would have lost money on that,it was'nt a hp monster but wuold turn consistant 13.50's at the track,those s-10's are fun to play with.

I'm not sure exactly which body you have, but I'll mention this anyway. If you use a 2WD S10 donor, you might need some outward offset wheels or a rear end from a 4wd/AWD S10, as they are 4 inches wider than the 2WD rear. I used the AWD rear on my 46 panel. The 2WD rear rbbed the inboard side of the tires when using the factory S10 2WD steel rims.
