G'day guys,

I have just purchased a 1 1/2 ton and was trying to get some information on the new front clip.

My question is can you have an independant front end with disc brakes and still retain the original 20" rims. what i am trying to achieve is the original look but with modern to new drive and handling... as good as you can have anyhow.

Is there a diff that i can have discs on and still retain the duels on the rear?

you can put a newer chevy 1 ton runing gear under it and than put 19.5 wheels on it wich would be firly close to same size
or you could find some newer chevy 1 1/4 ton trucks that had that same old 10 and 5 cominatin so you could use orgnle wheel/tire

for my 46 I plan to use runnig gear out of
85 chevy C70 that has dics all around and narrow tham to fit my truck it also has 5.40 gears wich will make a littel better speed on hiway with the 270 gmc I am building for it

Thanks for the info, I am planning to run the new Gen 4 V8, with a 6 speed manual, probably with 3.08 diff maybe 3.55, as the truck is the same weight as the car that it will come from.

Will have power steer, air and cruise control, central locking and electric windows, but want the outside to look exactly the same as is.
