Roadking here. Someone already has that nick so I had to add numbers to it. Anyway, my story, if you care to read it is this. I recently found my HS sweetheart from 30 years ago. We got separated due to our parents wishes. She went to college, I went to trade school. We didnt have facebook or cell phones back then. So, after the years passed , I was divorced and decided to try to find her. Looked her up online and there she was! Her daughter had put her on facebook with pictures! Whats that got to do with this forum? While we were dating back in 1982 she and Her Dad had rebuilt a 1951 Dodge truck. She drove it to HS. That truck was the conversation starter between us. I wanted to talk to her but as a backwards 17 yr old had no idea what to say. So, I saw her getting into that 'Ol 51 in the parking lot after school one day. The rest is history! After we got back together I took her to Maui and married her! Then I found out her ex forced her to sell her 51 against her wishes. So, I told her if we found a decent truck I'd buy it for her. That has now happened! She is now the proud owner of a 1959 Chevrolet Apache !!

Thanks 2-Ton, and Justhorsenround! Question, what topic does questions about obtaining truck parts go under? Like whats best source ect? Also I saw mentioned a garage thread? Pardon my newbieness but I don't see that either. Here is a better pic of the truck and us the day we bought her. The wife named her Baby because of the baby blue paint I really don't know but I'm sticking to that. It has a supposedly original 283, 3 on the tree, a new complete wiring harness, overhauled original brakes (work okay). Heater core has been reworked. new 2 spd electric wiper conversion kit. New fuel tank system, tank,filler neck, sending unit. Electronic ignition from Pertronix Flame Thrower. New shocks and new 16" cooper tires . Whats not working is the speedometer, or the gauges. They hooked up a set of three pod gauges under dash. The defrosters are not hooked up to new fan box. Ducts and passenger side manifold is missing. The drivers door handle key is missing but the doors lock fine. The bed wood is deteriorated and someone put a sheet of steel over it and tack welded it in place.
So you can tell this truck is a driver. We do want to fix some things but I dont know if we'll do a frame off or not. The underside has some rust but not anything that makes you alarmed. It looks to me like this truck has been kept inside most of its life. It has tipical DIY bondo on the cab corners and lower fenders and above the headlights, but not too awful. My hope is we can have some fun fixing little things and drive it to a few meets in the area..

As mentioned, the term "garage forums" refers to General Truck, Engine, Electrical, etc. etc. Just use whichever forum applies to your specific question. Lots of good info here.
I am a mechanic for life. I've been turning wrenches ever since I could hand my Dad a screwdriver! I'm 53 and am still learning! I work on aircraft for a living but if it rolls floats or flies I can probably fix it,or find someone who can!
