Hello everyone. My name is Aaron and I have just recently gotten into the Advanced Design trucks. I have two.

A 1949 4100 (Blue)
A 1948 6400 (Green)

Here is the Google pix link

I have decided to start the refurbishment of both. I know it will be expensive and take a fair amount of time but I am really excited to get wrenching and have a project to work on.

A little bit about the '48. It's a 1948 Chevy 6100 with a St. Paul "Dump It" Hoist. I found the truck in a nearby town and purchased it from the current owner for $300. It had no title, so i had to bond it. The Truck originally came with a 216 but had been modified with a 235 when I got it. I found a GMC 270 and have since mounted it in the frame. The box that came with the truck was destroyed long ago so I purchased a Omaha Standard 10ft box and mounted it to the hoist. I intend to do light farm work with the truck and take it to the occasional antique tractor/farm show. My brother has two Case tractors (VAC/300) and a Case A6 combine that we use to demonstrate farming in the 40s and 50s. The truck with its 10ft grain box will fit in perfectly with the demonstrations! Thank you all for the encouragement and wisdom shared.

I'm very interested to meet everyone on here and learn as much as I can.

Open to any tips and advice.

Again, hello and nice to meet you all!!!

Fitzy, welcome to the Stovebolt. The AD is a popular design and parts can still be found. Both new and reproductions.

Post the question in the most appropriate forum as not everyone drops by the welcome center.

Good luck and let us know how we can help.

Welcome Aaron, nice to start off with 2 at once. I'm not sure if you have done this sort of thing before, we often suggest getting the truck shop manual or even the Factory Assembly Manual. Not absolutely necessary but can certainly help. For me, the truck shop manual was a huge help.

We are here to help. If you need anything, be sure to ask, as Achipmunk already stated.

Good luck and let us know how you are progressing.

Thank you all. Leo, can you direct me to a paper manual?

The pros- I am finishing my degree in Diesel Technology next semester.
The cons- Not exactly made of money and I'll have to do most of the truckl work outside.

I was considering putting the pto, hoist, 2 speed rear end, and deluxe 5 window cab on the 4100. I don't have a title for the 6400. I think I could fight my way through the Iowa legal system and get a title for it but the 4100 already has a good title. What do you guys think. The 6400 has a 235 with inserts and full pressure. The 4100 has a 216 and babbitts.

Cool, highly optioned truck with Nu-Vue corner windows and stainless garnish moldings. Congrats!
Being a 6100 2-Ton it would have had a 235 originally as that was standard for that series. The GMC 270 should move it along really well.
I'm jealous!

Truck looks solid. Especially considering how it was stored. You should have a great truck when you get it done.
