welcome to the site! You should make a post in the welcome wagon at the top of the forum page, introduce yourself to everyone, and tell us about your truck! Any specific question are best asked in their respective forum as they will get seen by more people. Other than us west coasters, I don't think very many people look in here!

Welcome to the site! For any more questions, please start a new thread instead of tacking onto an existing one. That makes it easier to search at a later date!

My dad had his 235 rebuilt by a guy in Burien who is supposed to be real good but, the front and rear mains both leaked... and he took forever. (Mark at Earl's machine shop). He is supposed to be known as the go-to guy for them.

Larry at Aussie's machine shop is also supposed to be good. He is the one that did the machine work on the engine. Aussies is in Des Moines, N of 128th on Des Moines way.

Hello from Tacoma,
I'm new here to the stovebolt, lots of great stuff here. I like 54/55 trucks. I have a 54 chevy 1 ton panel, 54 chevy 4400 flatbed, 54 gmc 350 cabover, and a 51 suburban. I also have my very 1st vehicle a 65 c-10. We are getting ready to move to Hobart, so .my trucks have all taken a back seat to that. During the summer I love to go the Walmart in covington on friday nights. Nice mix of hot rods.

This truck came into the family about 30 years ago. It had had a frame off rest. There was no engine or trans. My step-dad put in a 350 with a th350. The truck is mine now.

The engine runs a bit rough now but its my daily driver. When the engine is cold it runs smooth. When it gets up to normal operating temp it misses at idle but off idle it smooths out and runs strong. I haven’t taken the time to check it out yet, I’m thinking a vacuum leak. I’ll keep in touch when I get more info on this.

I'm in Lake Tapps just south of Auburn, working on a '50 Chev 3/4 ton I originally bought in college and my dad graciously kept around when I moved away to get married. I've been on Stovebolt for close to a year, but I'm still moderated because I've been a looky-loo soaking up everyone else's knowledge and not actually posting. VERY helpful site, I appreciate all you guys sharing what you've learned.

Welcome aboard and good luck on the project. I've been around six years and am still being moderated on occasion, no worries. They run a tight ship around here but the ship is full of very knowledgeable and helping folks.

If anyone is looking for a casual event/parade in July. Vashon has the Tom Stewart Car Classic Car Parade on 7/21/19. It’s a great excuse to make a day trip to the island for Seattle area people.

Hey sstock! I'm out in Port Orchard. My wife was born, and raised in Gig Harbor. You might see me sometime. I'm the one in a '64 ratty blue C20, with a big pit bull looking dog with his head out the window. smile

Hello from Port Orchard, EWW!
Dang! I'm out in Port Orchard (take the Southworth ferry to Vashon), and missed the event. I'll put it on my calendar for next year!

Here just east of JBLM in the bustling metropolis of Roy. Been a Stovebolt member a number of years but other interest have had me squirreled from my 56 6100 dump truck.

We are actually in Union.
I'm actually a born Bremertonian.
I've lived in a few places during my child and teenage years.
Everett and Marysville.
That was, holy cow, over 40 years ago.
My how time flies! I'm getting old!
Not as old as the truck though. 😄😄

Preston Represent! 1965 C60 school bus; 1967 GMC 6500 school bus. Both are motorhomes inside-the '65 has been mine for 30 years and I've done the whole RV conversion and Cadillac 500cid V8 engine swap ahead of the SM420. The '67 is wholly stock GMC 351 V6 with a 5 speed, but it's longer than mine and it was professionally converted. There's even a bathtub in its bathroom!

The C60 is also special because four generations of my family have worked on it-from my master cabinet builder Grandfather, to my Dad, me and my spouse, and my kids. A tribute to generational Star Trek fandom, it's named NX-01 Enterprise; the V8 under its hood was my father's engine from one of his Cadillacs. He's been gone for 20 years now. Like the fictional starship captain Archer, I also lost my Dad way too soon.

The 6500 was a gift from a bike shop client who was getting too old to visit it at the Skykomish campground outside of Index, plus the bridge had washed out, so we spent multiple weekends trying to get it running. We did, but then it popped a head gasket and it was clear that it wouldn't make it over Jack's Pass. So the bus was free, but I spent $3400 getting it towed home. Well worth it, my daughter lived in it for almost two years while working and completing her associate's degree in Bellevue. She named it the Stargazer, after Picard's first command. It's her bus, I'm just its caretaker here at the proverbial fleet museum.

Right now we are just rebuilding, as the book says.
Hopefully this next winter we will start a restoration.
