Due to the rain, we did not get HQ setup Friday afternoon, but was able to mark our spot, that is the same as the last 5+ Years.
We have the T-shirts in our possession and will be sorting and giving them out today.

Friday night at the Alderson's was a great time and we had probably the biggest turnout ever.
It was probably because it was a Friday evening instead of on Thursday.
We had several first timers there and of course Wayne gave a tour of their collection after a great meal.
Vicki's cookies were a big hit, over three dozen were devoured.
shake
As an added highlight for the Aldersons, Bill Aldersons high school track coach showed up (83 years young) and talked to Patty and Wayne a lot about Bill and his brothers.
And as an added surprize, there were a couple young Alderson girls that intern in the assisted living facility that the Coach lives in, that also knew him.

I got a lot of pictures and it will be next week before I can load them up somewhere. Forgot the camera cable at home.

Had a couple cold ones with Rusty Rod, back at the hotel and got back to the room about 11 pm.
chug
We would like to hear other thoughts of the Alderson open house.
So post up!
Don

Due to me having too many irons in the fire, I was only able to attend for the day, but what a great time I had!

Don and Vicky, Mike and Pat and Jeff did a fantastic job making sure that all was under control at the Stovebolt booth. After the photo shoot, the annual meeting and giveaway went smooth as silk. It was a pleasure chatting with the usual bunch and meeting some new members for the very first time. Overall, attendance was down most likely due to the predicted wet weather, but it actually turned out to be a pretty nice day. It started out overcast and a little drizzly, but it didn't last long and wasn't enough to get you wet. By mid afternoon the sun was shining down on all of the vintage iron that was on display.

Special thanks to Mongo and crew for running a top notch event and like always we (us Stovebolters) were treated like royalty. Gaylene stopped by to thank us for attending and also announced that next year will be their 20th year hosting the show. It would be really cool if next year we could help them break their all time attendance record (weather permitting of course).

6:15 am Sunday and the hotel fire alarm goes off.
False alarm.
Got to look at a late model pumper and thank the Fire fighters.
They looked like it got them out of bed also

Think I'll go back to bed.

It was great to see all the gang again yesterday. The weather cooperated and the turnout was good in spite of the recent rains. A special thanks to Pat & Mike and John &Theresa. and Don & Vickie. Don is now a veteran ring-leader and we could hear his wheels turning for next year already. Thanks to John and Peggy for being there in spirit.

We thought the La Quinta was a step above Econo Lodge.
It also had a better breakfast and lounge area in the breakfast area.
No train noise and was quiet.

Gonna start drafting my report now.

This is my account and remember "My perception is my reality".

Saturday morning we woke at 6:30 with the hotel fire alarm going off.
False alarm, but I got to check out a late model pumper.
After stopping by Red-X to get some last minute supplies, we got to the park about 9am.
On a side note, we got free ice, because they were filling the freezer and had some busted bags they gave to us.

Pulling into the park I had pre registered and in just minute we were headed to our area. The same place that it has been almost every time.
Started activating HQ as more folks were showing up. We had the Stovebolt awning and three more to make us a place to stay out of the drizzle rain.

Duties were assigned as folks arrived.
Ron (WeBold) as the parking director. drive
Jeff (RustyRod) as the official photographer/director. pix
Mike (Wahl4Wahl) as the seminar director. thumbs_up
Pat Wahl and Vicki took over the t-shirt distribution. dance
I sat back and watched the team work. laalaa

The Stovebolt day schedule was made up and posted.
Jeff was taking pictures of everyone in front of their trucks as they showed up.
And if they did not drive a truck, in front of the Stovebolt banner.

Seminars started at 11 and ended when the drizzle started to get a little thicker for a short while and then it ended.
Started to get nice after that. Mike also did another one after the meeting.

12 to 2 was the show walk-a-bout time, with the group photo and meeting starting at 2pm.
There was still a lot of activity at HQ during that time period.

Group photo was beside and on Joe's (GMCJoe) new truck.
I forgot the year but it was a 1-ton dually.

Meeting started and introductions were made.
Galeen pulled up and spoke about the show, charity's and the changes to the park this winter.
Idea's asked for and the passing lane remembered.
Numbers were passed out as well as the customary tape and shop towels.
For a change there were no youngun's so, Mike drew, I yelled them out and Jeff was giving other stuff away also.
With their help, the meeting lasted less that an hour, just in time for the burnout contest.

Long distance went to first timers, Tom (1954MI) and his Dad Jim, they drove from Detroit, Mi. I'm thinking they will be back.
Jeff was second, from Loveland Co.
Ron was third from Marian, In.

A lot of new young faces this year. shake
There were at least four. Skeet, Tom, Rielly and another one and sorry I don't remember your name.
Great to see younger folks getting the disease.
Also, several others and I don't remember their name either.

Due to the rain about half of the gang did not bring a GM truck. Including me.
But we had a good turnout anyway and when Jeff starts posting pictures, we can get a head count in the group photo.

And the special thanks go these folks that really helped everything run smooth.
Mike and Pat Wahl, Mike did the seminars and helped with the meeting. Pat organized the shirts and brought goodie bags for the Stovebolter's.
Jeff, taking all the pictures and also helping with the meeting.
Ron, parking trucks like a traffic cop, next year he needs a whistle and an orange vest.
Also those that just pitched in, when something needed to be done

And thank to My wife Vicki, for being there, helping and keeping me in line.
Our 23rd wedding anniversary was Sunday, so on the way home, I stopped at White Castle and let her get all the double cheeseburgers she wanted.
Extra onion and extra pickles with horseradish mustard. Don't worry, we were close to home. eeeek

THANKS EVERYONE FOR A GREAT WEEKEND!!! yahoo

FYI, I stay at the Courtyard Briarcliff hotel just a few blocks away from the park. There's all the amenities with outdoor gathering space with a firepit too. It's just out side the bar area. It's absolutely clean and quality accommodations for the money. It's, in my opinion, worth a bit more per night just for the cleanliness....got a year to save up now,
Scott

I forgot about the door prizes.
We had a good pile of stuff this year and most of it donated by the folks that were there.
Went thru the tickets twice and then just let everyone take what was left over.
We will be starting out dry next year.
The door prizes are not funded by Stovebolt, so we depend on the Reunion folks to bring a payback the next year.

Boy am I tired of typing.

Don't worry Joe. I had my official Stovebolt dust mask handy.
The ODSS must have rubbed off on me some.

Back on topic, where are the pictures?
If it is not documented, it did not happen.
