I was doing a search on blasting & primer, and found a bunch of different opinions on both.
My question is if you're going to blast your fenders, hood, running boards what type of media is best & what should the air pressure be set at?

JamesB, I would say a lot of it depends on what your using to do the blasting. Siphon type, gravity feed or pressure pot. Then how well you blast will depend on how consistent and how much air supply you have.
Personally I have a pressure pot and I run 100 psi or maybe a tat more if the rust is real bad. I'm running a 7hp 175psi 19cfm air compressor and even it has to "work hard" if I stay at it continually for a spell.(usually until I have to refill the tank) On some of the blasters you will find the "optimum" level as you blast and adjust the sand.
Just today I stop at Metromont (concrete place) and picked up 6 more bags of Blasting Sand. It is 100 lb bags at $6.25 a bag. I ask for the FINE which is considered #30. The coarse is considered #12....at least thats whats on the bags I get. I generally use the fine stuff. Once I get through I sift it through a screen and re-use it in the pot blaster or my blasting cabinet. Hope this helps you out and I'm sure you'll get more opinions.

Check out this site for some great info and pictures. 60 PSi and a small blast pot will do. I just learned this myself.
