So update on the progress. All base coats for the frame, bumper and rear wheels are complete. Pictures are linked below. There is a picture of the wheel seals and the heater. 1. Do they make those anymore or will I have to make them myself with gasket paper? Same with the rear differential? 2. Does anyone know anything about the heater? Is it really "deluxe"? https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/...70878278511119986?authkey=COzjjf6n__eUZA | | | | Joined: Jun 2018 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2018 Posts: 46 |

He has old Case tractors and I have old Chevy trucks. We can both go bankrupt together. ha ha! | | | | Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 | So today I have been working on the front end and split the xmsn from the engine. I have a few questions. 1948 6100/6400 1. I have a mid 50s 235 that I am honing and putting new rings in. I also have the SM420 XMSN with it. If I got a SM465; would it bolt right in where the 420 was? No modifications to the engine/bell housing/truck frame? A "turn key" operation. 2. The truck had a hydrovac brake booster on it originally. Is it worth it to spend the time and money to have it rebuilt and reinstall it or just hook the brakes up the way they are now? How much of a difference does the booster make? Pictures linked below. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/...83827133312247138?authkey=CKmh3KLYotmIVA | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | I see you have a PTO on your SM420, does the SM465 have a PTO? If not you need to confirm the one on the SM420 will work on the 465...that could be a deal breaker if you intend on using it. The Hydrovac will triple the line pressure you make with your leg...why wouldn't you want that? If you generate 500 psi, the Hydrovac adds 1000 psi more! Mike B

I think in the box? | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | My guess is the box is just the tube chassis and there is a remote speaker and control head. If you remove the radio cover you may find a date stamped somewhere inside the box. It looks older than the truck to me... PTO's are transmission specific, so a 420 PTO may or not fit a 465. Since you have both. Straight cut vs. 'slanted' cut gears and also depth in the gears(shims are available to depth of engagement) are some issues. I am sure there are PTO shops in IA.

Does that 3" mean that I will have to modify the firewall or just have to move the radiator forward 3"? | | | | Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2018 Posts: 116 | I need help everyone. I was about to throw a wrench today. I ordered a new steering box bushing/seal kit for the horizontal shaft. I cannot get the new seal to fit over the splined shaft. Has anyone done this or had issues with it? Any advice would be much appreciated! https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/...94953776203759650?authkey=CMzV9PeT0oalcQ

My twin brother was the first to make a themed helmet with a Pith. He is a member of Yesterdays Tractor and the Mid Iowa Case Club; so a Case theme was obvious. Well now I have a Chevy theme too! Let me know what you all think. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/...7920916204375250?authkey=CJiNo8O_haqswwE | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 172 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 172 | | | |
