Thanks for the help guys!

So update on the progress. All base coats for the frame, bumper and rear wheels are complete. Pictures are linked below. There is a picture of the wheel seals and the heater.
1. Do they make those anymore or will I have to make them myself with gasket paper? Same with the rear differential?
2. Does anyone know anything about the heater? Is it really "deluxe"?

So an update! Rear end has been put back together and wheels have been mounted. Put the hoist back on the frame and will start work on the box and front end. Pictures are linked below!

So today I have been working on the front end and split the xmsn from the engine. I have a few questions. 1948 6100/6400
1. I have a mid 50s 235 that I am honing and putting new rings in. I also have the SM420 XMSN with it. If I got a SM465; would it bolt right in where the 420 was? No modifications to the engine/bell housing/truck frame? A "turn key" operation.
2. The truck had a hydrovac brake booster on it originally. Is it worth it to spend the time and money to have it rebuilt and reinstall it or just hook the brakes up the way they are now? How much of a difference does the booster make?

I see you have a PTO on your SM420, does the SM465 have a PTO? If not you need to confirm the one on the SM420 will work on the 465...that could be a deal breaker if you intend on using it.

The Hydrovac will triple the line pressure you make with your leg...why wouldn't you want that? If you generate 500 psi, the Hydrovac adds 1000 psi more!

So the past few days have been exciting. We retrieved the "new" parts truck and brought it home. Pictures linked below. Does anyone know anything about the radio in it? I believe it is a Philco Radio.

Also, my twin brother brought home a Case A6 combine. He is not planning to restore it. Just get it functional and run as is. It should go well with the 10ft Omaha Standard box on the truck. Pictures posted below.

What's the radio control head look like? Is the speaker in the dash?

Neat old combine!

Thanks! I'm not sure where the speaker is. I will try and look tomorrow. I think in the box?

My guess is the box is just the tube chassis and there is a remote speaker and control head.

If you remove the radio cover you may find a date stamped somewhere inside the box. It looks older than the truck to me...

Hey everyone. Its been another couple busy days. I found and pulled (with the owners help) a 1950s GMC 270 to replace the 235 in my truck. Any tips or tricks I should know of for the swap? Pictures linked below.

GMC engines are about 3" longer than Chevy's, so, you will need to allow for that, GMC's move the radiator FWD in the core support.

PTO's are transmission specific, so a 420 PTO may or not fit a 465. Since you have both. Straight cut vs. 'slanted' cut gears and also depth in the gears(shims are available to depth of engagement) are some issues. I am sure there are PTO shops in IA.

Thank you Ed! Does that 3" mean that I will have to modify the firewall or just have to move the radiator forward 3"?

I need help everyone. I was about to throw a wrench today. I ordered a new steering box bushing/seal kit for the horizontal shaft. I cannot get the new seal to fit over the splined shaft. Has anyone done this or had issues with it? Any advice would be much appreciated!

Onto better news. I installed the 270. Like Ed said; it was just shy of fitting in the front mount. I will have to make a custom mount. It has good cylinder and oil pressure. Link to pictures is below.

Many of you might find this nerdy or excessive but I have made a Chevy themed helmet. My twin brother was the first to make a themed helmet with a Pith. He is a member of Yesterdays Tractor and the Mid Iowa Case Club; so a Case theme was obvious. Well now I have a Chevy theme too! Let me know what you all think.

Hello everyone! So a long overdue update about the old truck. Painted the sides of the flatbed and got it welded to the hoist. I was a little hesitant about crawling under the box raised so I made a hoist safety lock. Pictures linked below.
I'm also posting a link to yesterdays tractor where my brother has posted about the Case auger wagon we built. Its a fun little project. It should be able to dump into the truck when finished.
