New to the site. I hope my truck is welcome even though its not 100% period correct.
The story: I got out of my love of riding motorcycles to get a new toy my young kids could enjoy with me. I started my search looking for an old square body Chevy. Something that was driving so I could enjoy it while I tinkered with it. I never found one that I could get for a steal. So I ran across my truck in a local classified site. It is a '51 5 window body on a '82 Chevy c10 frame and drive train. So I guess I did end up with a square body after all. But this truck wasn't in driving shape. The previous owner told me it just needed a few things like front calipers and then bolt the body on to get on the street. That's a different story, I had to re do the whole brake system. I still have to bold some body parts on and wire up the taillights, signals and headlights. Then put all new glass in this thing. But I love it. It will be more unique in my city than a square body.

Jared, your truck is very welcome here. Although we do not like to see nice originals chopped up and destroyed the bottom line here is its your truck and you can do what you want. There are plenty of rust buckets for those that want to chop/crop/drop.
We have a HiPO forum for just what your doing as well as all the help we can give from the other forums. Pictures....yeah we love them but I think you have to make at least 4 post before putting up pictures. You are Moderated for the first 4 post in order for us to take a look and make sure your not a spammer, spider or other unwanted guest. After four post you can enjoy all Stovebolt has to order and start using the PM, private message, system. Take your time, look around, check out the tech tips and links and pictures in the gallery. Enjoy the journey with your kids. They will thank you many times over as they grow up....I know!

Thanks for all the kind words. My biggest problem with it now is just lack of time I can put into it. I'll have the radiator back on and filled this weekend. Plan to bolt fenders on and start to wire the lighting.
Welcome Jared, yes, you never can really believe what the previous owner tells you. Wise to redo the whole brake system anyways. Enjoy driving it with your kids. Leo
Thanks for all the kinds words. It's amazing to see what the previous owners fabbed up for this swap. Being a rat rod esque build, I am leaving all the cool parts they made as long as I deem it safe. I need to adjust the doors better and fit the hood, running boards and brackets and add glass. Then wire up the lights and I'll be good to go for a while.
Well it has been a while, I got the brakes lined out. front and rear glass installed. Lights, and rear turn signals wired up. And even drove it down the cul-de-sac a few times with the kiddos. My main things to do now are: adjust the doors to fit better and adjust/fit the hood that it latches all the way down. Also get some smaller tires for the front, because as you can see the fender is right on them with the height of the tires and the wider frame underneath. I have 225/75/15 on there now, thinking of trying a 205/70/15. Trying to post a picture let' see if this works

Hey, Jared. Good to see the 51 is shaping up. I love the way the wheels look stock. Wonder if you could get some big bolt front fenders and fit that wheel width better? I hope the 82 running gear is the pleasure to drive that it should be. Glad to hear the kiddies are involved! I’m a full blooded Texan myself, from way back. I’ll be watching for you on the road when I’m visiting down there!
