have a 1952 chevy 1 ton pickup. trying to put newport motor in. my question does it go inside or outside of bracket. anyone have a pic. i am having a hellva time with this thanks

thank u. i have the one that clears choke cable also. it just don't want to sit in bracket. i been working on this 2 days and i hear it's a simple job

I used the Newport in my 52 panel and it works great.

Jimbo, I started to chime in after you posted but I didn't take one of it under the dash and probably can't till Monday. You'll probably have it figured out by then? I'll watch this thread.

I have mine parking right but it only wipes about 3/4 of the way to the outer edge of the windshield.. I did not do any adjustments, yet, but it sounds like maybe you can do a little???

I have seen comments about the Newport wiper motors not wiping the whole windshield. This video of a guy putting one in an Olds seems to show that (skip to the end to actually see the wiper work):

also, is there anything to heep from old motor. what is that piece on wiper arms.

I don’t have a good pic of the bracket I think your talking about. If it’s the black z shape bracket that came with the kit, it attaches to the brace

You reuse the transmission arms

That spring thing in the other pics is the original keeper from the trico

if it the same as the one that came in the newport kit, then your in good shape.

ok looks just like it. now i just put the arms on with washers and that's it

Just make sure the arms are on correctly. There is a wrong way

....this is the wrong way.....

i think I did have to adjust the park.

I don’t remember how I did it. I think there was an Allen screw on the hub you can reposition?

Are you talking about adjusting the park?

Or just simply moving the arm on the motor that the two wiper transmission arms attach to?

If you want to change positions of the arms simply disconnect them from the motor ane switch them

If its something else let us know.

its hard to tell , but the arms appear backwards

ok Dad, i must be brain dead. the wipers go three quarters up and three quarters down. the v groove in wiper arm is facing almost down, maybe a little towards seat.

Not sure whats going on with that


Try calling newport

They are very helpful and give good tech advice

Make sure you let them know what model # you have
They have two models for the A D trucks

Dad check this out. I built this truck from top to bottom. i put in windows[
(that were hard) headliner and alot of things. This wiper motor was the hardiest thing i put in. And i'm still not right. I loosened the set screw on the motor arm. Moved it a little, i thought i had it. Now my passanger wiper goes all the way back. Fine The drivers side does half the window. What is wrong. I thought this thing was a perfect switch.

Hopefully someone will chime in with an idea

Tomorrow fter work ill try to get a video of the newport at work

Check for binding in transmissing arms in the mean time
