Just wondering if anybody has any ideas for an interior door pull instead of using the door handle that opens the door? I tried ordering some from LMC, but they are very large and clunky. They wouldn't suit a period correct truck nor a rat rod. There's the 80s style strap I could adopt, but that doesn't quite seem right.
Not sure how it would work on a 53 but what I did was to cut the door pull part from a 38 and cut/welded it in my '40 door panel. The 38 is just a formed finger tip pull on the top of the door panel.
....take a few minutes and stop at a local trim/upholstery shop that has been in business for a good while. Its amazing what they can come up with. Worth the time.
I'm just looking for a door pull, not an armrest. It's not difficult to come up with something, I was just curious what some people might have come up with.

We don't really have a places like that here unfortunately. There was one person that did some upholstery work, but last I've heard he's since left the country.
These are really nice..from a Triumph TR-4. They lay flat and when you grab them they hinge upwards and work vey well. Mounts with one screw at each end, which is hidden by the handle when it is not being used. They might be a nice addition to an AD truck?
