Howdy y'all,

I am itchin' to get back onto the open roads!! drive

After limping around with a wore out heart for over 20 years, Dean FINALLY put some effort into giving me a heart (engine) transplant. I'm out of surgery and am now recovering nicely. Thanks for asking! Here's the story of the engine rebuild: Resurrecting a '28 4 banger

To celebrate being mobile again, I'm gonna drive to the Niles Depot on Sunday, May 27, 2018. That's Memorial Day weekend.

We are going to meet in Walmart's parking lot, near Dean's house, at 9am. Walmart's address is 15555 Hesperian Blvd, San Leandro, CA. The plan is to go down Mission Blvd. and arrive in the Niles District of Fremont around 10am.

Join us!! Let's hang out in the parking lot of the Niles Depot and wow the crowds with mechanical wonders of yesteryear.

Let Dean know if you're gonna be there so we can try and save some parking spaces. 1-510-919-2833

Happy trails to you,,,,, Lurch

Hi all,

Lurch is showing good progress. His engine runs strong, but at the moment, his generator is not generating. I'll have it fixed by hook or crook in the next few days.

As for the 27th here's the detailed plan:

1. Lurch and Justin will arrive at the parking lot between Walmart and Taco Bell (15555 Hesperian Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94579) at 8:45am.

2. At 9:00 sharp, we will leave Walmart, going east on Lewelling Blvd. and then go south on Mission Blvd.

3. At approx. 9:15, we will stop at KMART (26231 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544) to hook up with the notorious Hayward gang.

4. At approx. 9:20, we'll head down Mission Blvd. and keep driving 'til we arrive in Niles. We'll be parking in the lot next to the Niles Depot Museum (37592 Niles Blvd, Fremont, CA 94536). Hope to arrive around 10am.

5. Park, shoot the breeze, take pics, and hang out until 2pm.

6. Drive back to San Leandro.

Hope to see ya there!

Well, looks like I'm a no-go for Sunday. I had some family stuff come up that prevents me from making it. I know I'm bummed, but I hope there is a good turn out. I will try to make another outing in the near future.

Sorry you weren't able to make it, Dave. We had a nice turn out and a great day!

Lurch and I will go to a few local shows this summer, but the big one that's on the calendar is the Concours D'Lemons on Aug. 25th in Seaside. I've registered Lurch to hob knob with the rich and shameless. ;-)

Here's a link to where I described last Sunday's outing on the VCCA web site: https://vccachat.org/ubbthreads.php...k-lurch-meet-may-27-2018.html#Post408935

Cheers, Dean
