Just got my first Stovebolt and it’s a big bolt 1950 4400 cab n chassis
Bought at auction running, driving, and stops by E-brake 😩
Got it home and since It needed a new floor for the cab. I decided to take it off the chassis, documenting all the bits and pieces bagged and tagged, ordered the new floor found a local shop that will replace it for me as well as the rotted out rear cab corners. Had all the sheet metal glass bead blasted I primed everything ordered all the new replacement parts all new rubber window seals door tracks will be ordering new glass. No concrete plans at this time as to what to do with the truck when I’m done. It’s kind of a boredom therapy release project. Truck has replacement 1954 235 Straight 6 4 speed with PTO. Has exhaust manifold leak from three cracks so I’ll be replacing that with a dual exhaust style.
Plans are a dark gray exterior paint with a light gray interior custom flatbed with wood inserts possibly TREX Recycled wood product instead of real wood still on the fence about that one. Any stovebolter in the Santan Valley area of Arizona I am more than acceptable to ideas and assistance

Well I’m at this stage after 3.5 weeks.
Chassis is no longer rolling got front axle and leaf springs off.
Cab went to weld shop for new floor and cab corners.
Tomorrow I’ll attempt the rear set of leafs
Going to have daughter set up a photo account to show the work 🎩

Finish stripping the frame of all removable parts getting it ready for sandblast and powder coat started taking the front leaf spring set apart for sandblast and powder coat found one leaf broken got to go down and get it replaced, worked on the ignition switch put the new key cylinder in it and I went to the body shop that’s got the cab to check on the floor and the cab corners it’s coming out really nice he also filled in some holes on the doors where somebody had mounted multiple sets of mirrors and of course didn’t reuse the holes.

Found a 1999 food truck “not useable” with Chevy chassis. Has 350 engine auto trans and 10 bolt lug pattern that matches my 1950 4400 except center hole but I can use 19.5” rims and get away from the “widow makers” going to remove parts I want/need scrap the rest then store the engine tranny set up for future build and see about swapping the axles over when I put it back together the 99 rear axle should allow for little better driving but, not sure at this point if it all lines up. Body guy was out yesterday to access the cab/fenders and hood for dent repair and paint. No quote yet 😩

Well I got the quote from the body guy and just about went into sticker shock didn’t realize exactly how bad the dings and dents were until we set down and circled them all with a sharpie on the primer. (Quote was 150 hours just body work)
Now I guess im going to learn how to do bodywork or trade it out somehow.
Now the gentleman that came has done Sema trucks but that’s not exactly what I’m looking for in this truck.
Got the rear axle and leave springs off the truck and they are on the dolly, been working on getting years and years of grease oil and who knows what else off the frames nooks and crannies.
Picked up a 49 3100 pickup probably going to have to use it for parts a lot of cancer and I do mean a lot so it’s back to the big bolt.

Well still working on frame. Looking for local help with the body work (friends in chi town Volunteered to fly out and help, I think they want to get out of the snow.) So in the meantime I found another truck that was on the trucks for sale list. (Thanks stovebolt)
Now on the proud owner of Indianapolis fabrications 1946 2-ton and the trucking company that’s delivering it from Indianapolis to Phoenix called this afternoon and will be delivering the truck Monday (tomorrow) morning.
I wanted to thank Randle from I-fab, very nice gentleman to work with over the phone lots of information about the truck, little quirks and what to pay attention to when you own an art deco truck as this is my first one. I have a couple of AD’s. So those in the East Valley area of Phoenix look for me at the car show Saturday night 14th at the old (EX) Kmart parking lot Power Road and Hampton .
Again THANKS Randle the truck is in good company.

By the way what’s her name, can’t be changing it now can I. All old trucks have old lady names😁🎩

Unloaded it this morning at CRACK OF DAWN 🌄 🔦🔦 the truck driver slept across the street from my house last night and headed off as soon as the front wheels hit the pavement. 🎩

Ok so I counted the panel twice, BUT that is one sweet panel and it’s big enough for it to count as two 😁😁😁😁🎩

Found a 48 panel that I’d LIKE to have but needs more work then yours did so probably will pass (for now)
I’ll keep it in my back pocket😉🎩

Tophat, if it needs more than mine it needs to TKO's at the crusher!!! The more I took it apart the more I cried.

I tried to locate those extra brackets today, but I was not able. Will have to ask my shop foreman where in the 50,000 sq. ft. building he put them!
