I got my hands on a '53 dump. I've been told a few things about it:
- 1953 Chevy 1 Ton
- Originally sold in Saskatchewan
- Original 216 swapped for 235
- 4.11 Gearing (Hoping to change this to something in the 3's)
I've tried using some of the identification tools listed on the site but I seem to have something a little unique, I think. So, any additional information is greatly appreciated. Very excited to start this project and share it with everyone!

As you probably already know there is a forum for one tons. Check it out. We also have many members here from Canada and there are bound to be some of them checking in......and there is a forum for you guys as well.
Sorry the identification tools didn't work for you. Since this is the welcome center you'd be better posting questions in the most appropriate garage form.....maybe the General Truck forum and the guys there will help.....just be sure to include the I.D./Vin number and someone will help you out.

Welcome Craig, nice looking truck. You did the right thing by posting a link. You are fortunate that it has 4.11 gears and not something like a 5.13 that it would have come with. I think the uniqueness of this truck is simply that it is a Canadian truck, most numbers you try to check are US built trucks. Good luck with it.

As per 52vff's comment above, model 1434 is a 1 ton. The 137" wheelbase is the quick way the identify it as being a 1 ton. The 3/4 ton had a slightly shorter wheelbase at 125".

However it wasn't super easy to read in your picture, was it 1434? I'll be home tomorrow and can check again if it's different.
