I have a 1934 Chev ! 1/2 ton truck i just recently rebuilt the engine and replaced the radiator core the trouble is when i started the engine up
the water was coming out of the top of the radiator by over an inch high with no cap on the radiator and when the cap was on was still coming out between the cap and the radiator
any suggestions on why and what to do to fix this problem

Something is blocked.
Better check the rad. again.
I would remove the lower hose and fill the radiator with water engine not running.
The water should run out the lower neck of the Rad. almost fast as you pour it in.
Almost the key word here.
If it has good flow then look at the engine block/head for something abnormal.
You can flush engine block in much same way looking for a restriction.

Could be air trapped in system. Google "Burping" a motor. Park up hill.
Could be over heating. Watch the gauge.
Could be too much fluid in Rad.
Could be water pump running backwards.....wrong water pump
Could be a screwed up "new" core install

Please always state what motor, as well as year and model.

Is there steam? Bubbles? Thermostat correct/new? Overflow tank installed?
I have read that heater hoses on backwards can cause bubbles. I don't know if that's true.
