Then go to the DMV and see how to proceed. If the seller is far away, keep a copy of your bill of sale, before you send it off.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Other ways are to measure the bed. I do not have my measurements in front of me but I believe the 1/2 ton wheel base should be around 114 or maybe 116.
Would love to see a picture when you can. Nice catch by the way. A new stovebolter here in S.C. just lucked up and found a 37 pickup.
Document everything and I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it till I had something in my hand showing ownership. Would hate to spend money on it and have a hard time getting a title. Each state is a little different so Ed gives some good advice.
