This Brass tag is riveted to the dash of my 1950 3100. I am guessing it was in a fleet , and this is how they kept track of them. Must have been a large fleet , this is a high number . Anyone with more info on these tags I would love to hear about it??
Welcome to the Stovebolt, 455lark. I had a 50 pickup back in the mid seventies and currently a 52 panel but never seen a number like that. Maybe a service truck for a plumbing or heat and air company.....and who knows, they may have started the numbers at 2000???
Your truck stock, modified in some way? Whats your future plans?
Are you close to Phoenix ? I know a bolter there by the name of Al.
I am in Scottsdale , just outside of Phoenix. The Truck is modified. I am keeping the original look and patina , but it has a V8 , OD Auto , 9 inch Currie rear end , custom frame. I guess you could call it a resto mod.
When I was growing up my Dad had a '46 1 ton long bed pickup. It had once belonged to Lampert Lumber Yard. That truck had a similar tag in it, but the number was only like 48 or something like that. It also had small holes in the doors where the company sign was bolted on. That was before that company used decals or painted signage.
Glad to see another fellow "Bolter", from Arizona. I am just down the road in Gilbert. Have a stock 53 3100. Maybe would could talk sometime. Would like to see you truck.
Hi Steve Maybe we can meet up with the Trucks after the holidays , I have family coming in for Christmas and wont have much time till first of year. Talk later.
when I took what looked like the original set out of the Truck ,, speed o was on the left. I have seen trucks done both ways. My Truck is a Hi Po/ Patina style Truck , so original location of Speedo no issue.
