I'm unsure if the motor is original to the truck but as far as I understand, 1966 was the first year for the 250. The numbers I have been able to gleam from the block is the block casting 3877178C which just tells me it is either a 230 or 250 (although I don't know what the C means). The code near the distributor is F0219FA. I can find just about every suffix code online other than FA. So far I can determine it was made in Flint on February 19th from that code. I can't seem to find the date code near the starter. The only other number I've found is CON2. I haven't been able to make out the shape of the pistons which would at least tell me if it was a 230 or 250. Any info would be appreciated. I use mine all the time for inspecting engines, and it even fits down barrels as small as .22 to inspect the condition of the rifles I buy. Mine has a mirror attachment that lets me put it through a hole and look sideways.

This means the truck's original engine is no longer in it. It plugs into the USB port on my laptop and projects its image onto the monitor. I did a little shopping for the smallest possible diameter of lens (5 MM) so I could inspect chambers and barrels of small bore rifles. A somewhat larger lens would probably give a sharper focus for engine inspections if you don't need to access very small holes. There's a wide variety of choices and prices, and like anything else, "Ya gets what ya pays for!"
When the borescope and the headspace gauges come out at a gun shop, the prices come tumbling down, on occasion!
