Thought I would start a thread on my progress of my 1929 Chevy 1.5-ton truck restoration. As a rookie in restoration, I'm still confident that I can get this done, especially with all the help I have received so far from you guys: "The Pro's!"

I worked in a body shop back in the mid '70s. Don't have much mechanical experience though. This was my Father-in-laws first truck, so we want to keep this truck as part of my wife's heritage.

Just finally got started on it a month ago after a lot of research. It's time to put in a lot of elbow grease.

I got the body disassembled and in my shop to spend the winter working on the body. Snow has begun to fall up here in the mountains and I am elk hunting until the 12th so there is a pause on the project for this week. I'd rather be working on my truck.

Here's a picture of my start on the cab, bringing it down to bare metal. Have a good start on it.

Can't wait to get it all clean and shiny.

For what its worth I have always liked the 29. First year for the 6 cyl I think and I just like the style. Thank for starting this thread and I'm sure I will not be the only one following along with you.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Had to move the frame out of the way before the snow gets deep. I've got some new wheels coming in a few weeks but couldn't wait for them to get here to relocate the frame. If I had one of my old cars with a metal bumper, I could have moved it in a few minutes. However, everything today is made out of plastic. Necessity is the mother of envention. I believe it was Archimedes that said "Give me a lever big enough, and I can move the world" Lol

Took most of the day, but I relocated it about 25' by putting 2x6's under the wheels and used a landscaping timber as a lever to move it a few inches at a time.

Nothing a Bolter won't do to achieve his goal.

Getting there! Can't wait to get all of the cab and doors done so I can get to work on the wood frame. Building the wood cab frame is a piece of cake for me. My specialty is wood work. Forth generation.
